Samsung Galaxy Z Flip Lite may be on the way

19 November 2020
As you'd expect, it should be cheaper than the Z Flip.

If it had a functional screen when folded, it would have been a great purchase. Right now, its just a novelty factor when once has to unfold the phone to do anything useful.

The size is just perfect though. Waiting for the next iterations.

The size (when folded) alone makes me consider getting something like this in the future. I hate having a big clunky brick in my pockets. And since they already are more durable than one would think, the future generations might be even better at that.

Android--Master, 19 Nov 2020Using a foldable right now is literally having something in... moreI 100% agree with you. For those that complaint is frankly just people not willingly accepting the fact that changes is about to happen. They either don't have enough money to purchase, fanboy-ism, or are so called "late adopters" or "Trailers" (haha Boomer). Which means they either adopt/accept new stuff when everything is boring again or nevner want changes to keep the innovation going. And to be frank, yes let them stick to their 200$ phones. I be here enjoying my Z Fold 2, until i can get my hands on Samsung/LG rollable phones or the Z fold 3. BTW i also enjoy my iPhone 12 Pro Max.

If its priced at $999, with good cameras, and a 3inch outer screen, it could sell in the truckloads. They should also change the aspect ratio of both the screen and make it slightly less boxy.

Samsung could use scratch resistant plastic, for all anyone cares.

When samsung relased fold, i said right away, it's too big, look ugly and no longer a phone, i will never get one even if i can afford one. But i also said, that should they release one in same size like their other phone (5,5-6,5 inch) but come in fold, i'll buy it. So i just fulfill my own words. It feel good in hand and pocket when folded, and although spec wise it aint any faster than even S20, it still powerful enough for any thrown in task. And for $845 , i guess its perfectly fine for me. But thats me.

Other people like you can stick to your 200$ average phones.
                      This ain't for you son.

Samsung not only brought multiple foldables to the market but currently holds the crown for the best foldable on the market.

Now they are satisfying users by giving them a lite version at cheaper price so that people who can't afford high end foldables, get to experience the foldable experience at lower price point. That's why it is no.1

Smartphones with folding screens is gimmick. It's a hype for people who want to show off and have to much money to spend. Don't get me wrong, developing this technology has certainly a use-full future but for the moment there isn't any added value in the current smartphone landscape other than being blingbling. The only concept that makes sense is the recently announced rollable screen concept from Oppo. It keeps a normal smartphone candybare format but allows you transform it into a tablet. I don't think this concept is more complex than the technology required for having a screen folding always at the same place and having to create complex and delicate hinges.

Folding phones which are too expensive with a zero resistant screen are instant DOA.

These Z phones are too thick when closed and don't look like modern devices at all. May be in 3-4 generations when they become really thin and elegant, screens get more tough I'll consider purchasing but of course if price goes down as well. So far these devices have too many compromises and disadvantages.
