His comment is just to secured Ericsson place in China, as Ericsson telecom equipment is used by telecom carriers there. No sane company would want a tough competition.

It's basic math. If X companies need Y years to build the 5G network in the world, than X-2 companies need probably Y+2 or Y+3 or even Y+5 years to build the same network. Not mentioning that Huawei has maybe the highest technical level on 5G right now.

Its not about trade freedom and competetion, its about loosing big markets like China in case Ericsson gets banned there like Huawei. Ericsson will not be affected much in case Huawei also competes with it in Sweden but ban on Ericsson in China will have much bigger impact. For Huawei Sweden is not much that big market than some African Countries but for Ericsson it is huge.

The explanation is pretty simple ... Ericsson sells big in China, on the other hand the Chinese government asks for support overseas.

5G feels more and more like a stop-gap before 6G. Not until then will we have enough bandwidth for future iot implementations.

Their huaway (like all other china bread companies) grew on others back and innovation, that is not comoetition, that is steal the idea, do for cheap sell cheapper. Cedric Richmond who received lobbying only from the fossil fuel corporations and no other Rep. has received so much lobbying as he did, he ranks no.1 so please. USA will keep bullying China, they will not stop because Trump is not president anymore. China is technological threat for them and they need and want to address this. They cannot fall from the 1st place in the world as a super power.

There free trade argument falls apart completely when you consider China never have open market and heavily disadvantages foreign companies inside China. To expect other countries to then open markets for China is hypocrisy.
