Teardown of M1-powered MacBook Air and Pro shows very little has changed

20 November 2020
The Pro even uses the exact same fan as the Intel-powered laptop. The Air, of course, has no fan, Apple just put a block of aluminum in its place.

Last paragraph needs a different perspective. There is little change because the previous Macbooks were planned/designed to have the M1 chip, this the reason the Intel Macbook air only has a 10W TDP and with its fan far from the heatsink

They should've made this an iPad with macOS... Why waste so much power efficiency on a laptop?

Not to mention that my windows laptop at 52W under heavy load the keyboard heats up to 46-47C while on my M1 mac heats up to 37C

They just made another level of RAW compute power at an another level of power efficiency
On my all test done in the last 2 days, my M1 macbook , at 28W draw at power outlet, outperform in raw cpu power and is on par with my 1050 TI dGpu that at power outlet draw up to 52 W !!

For tech people knows what i mean

You just need to tune the fan curve since it's more efficient and you don't need to spin it so hard. Do you know how expensive it is to design a custom part, send it for mass production and use it in products? Or just use one that you've been using for years and you know it works well. Not to mention it means you'll find replacement parts easier for such things that can be rather easily replaced by user, because they exist and are made by 3rd parties too. Opposed to waiting to get new parts on the market again. Just saying.

I suppose the next macbook pro will be both 14 inch mini led witch a redesigned motherboard layout, They could put a bigger batterry in it in the future as well. Yet then it would be heavier and the run times on the M1 are next to incredible, so why even bother... :P.

I mean, realistically, why reinvent a wheel when you can just tune the fan curve a bit and you're done. The stuff is tested, no need to make things from scratch just to say "it's new".
