Ah, nevermind. Misread. The correct answer had been given already. Smartphones vs. all phones.
The hard salesnumbers from apple are the same in both.

Alui, 14 Aug 2012I have a question, how come Apple has 6.9% of the sales in ... moreBecause Apple get most of their sales through carriers. At least a lot more than the rest.
These tables only concern direct(!) sale to end user.

AnonD-30131, 14 Aug 2012@ Alui MacBooks? iPads? You are both confused. The sales table shows both smartphones and feature phones. The OS table show only smartphones.

Alui, 14 Aug 2012I have a question, how come Apple has 6.9% of the sales in ... moreThe top table is looking at Operating system, where the other is looking at total devices sold. As you can see, the OS numbers total 153,686 X1000 where the devices sold equals 419,007 X1000. As far as i can tell, the bottom table is looking at all phones, including feature phone devices. Where as the top table is just looking at smart devices

Let the fanboyism begin!!
To be honest...
Apple's problems lie in the fact that their profits come primarily from selling hardware, not software...
And because there's only one iphone, released every year... it means all other OSs have a jump on them (because they're on multiple handsets..)
And because Apple rely on hardware sales - they ensure that they stifle their own software updates - opting for minor gradual change each year as opposed to innovating like Android or Windows... I think long-term this will see them decline further...
As for Nokia... well... they wouldn't be around now if it wasn't for all of M$'s money... and I think once W8 gets into gear, you'll see it in 3rd place within a year or two... with Symbian virtually nonexistent... Nokia eventually being bought out (or at least owned majorly) by M$ in the next 3 years I reckon...
As for Android... the bubble will have to burst at some point... as technology improves, somebody will come up with an innovative new interface that blows everyone away... and the cycle will start again... but until then, they're only going to dominant more and more...
Let's see what 2013 brings eh!?!?

[deleted post]Maybe, but is not on smartphone world. They sell alot of basic phones like in the 3rd worlds. But for example in europe, the telecomunications stores even with the cheaps ones make promotions. Last month I sold alot of Nokia 100, X2-05, Asha 200 and so on...you have to admitt that they are still standing because of the basic phones. In the smartphone is another story because they're losing alot with microsoft impositions!

[deleted post]How can android crush it's fathers -Symbian and Maemo? Look at it Symbian was the OS that started mobile gaming on a whole new level and Maemo was always one step behind Linux.
