Google Pixel 5 durability test looks for metal under layers of plastic

02 December 2020
Google keeps talking about a metal construction, but that material is buried... deep.

Guess you love shards more than scratched metal or plastic. Also i'm not sure where you got the idea with weights being added to older phones. Only phones with weights i've seen were cheap chinese knockoff phones or non branded ones.

I like this plastic alloy material. More phones should have this kind of finish

I don't understand putting metal underneath plastic. It's like old devices that had weights inside to feel more premium because they were heavier. Also, the point of metal is to feel premium on touch. How is metal covered in plastic doing that? Also hope your phone never gets a dent coz it'll look horrible like all the phones with any sort of paint or plastic coating.

Anonymous, 03 Dec 2020the 5 isnt necessarily the best value for hardware but its ... moreOf course it's gonna have better battery, it has a SoC which is less powerful than Snap865 present in the others...
In 2 or 3 years, with heavy games and heavy apps, the Pixel 5 will lag and be slow while the phones with Snap865 will still be fast enough.

Camera is better than the Oneplus 8T but just a bit better than the FE.

Better updates is not what it used to be. Samsung committed to 3 years of updates and Oneplus 2+1 and is a matter of personal taste. Oxygen and OneUi have a lot more personalization and a lot of people prefer that. Oneplus 8T has no bloat. Samsung has a bit but it's easily removed.

The 5 at 700 or 800 like i see in Amazon is a terrible deal. You can almost buy an iPhone 12 which kills the Pixel 5 in everything by far (except battery life). C'mon Google...

If people want a pixel, buy the 4a. That is the best deal for what you pay man...

Bodygard, 03 Dec 2020This phone in europe from known retailers costs 750-800 eur... morethe 5 isnt necessarily the best value for hardware but its pretty good.
battery lasts far longer than the oneplus or the galaxy, camera is arguably better even without analog zoom, it has better updates, and less bloat.

the 4a is definitely a better value though. at 500 the 5 would have been excellent value as well, while right now its pretty much just "a good phone"

This phone in europe from known retailers costs 750-800 euro which is an abuse. This phone should've cost no more than 500 at best. And for little more than 500 you have good options, Oneplus 8T and Galaxy S20 FE which pretty much destroy the pixel 5 in every aspect. Oh well...no one understands Google, even they...

If you want a good google phone buy the 4a, that is the best deal this year. For 350 you get a snap 730G that has little less performance than the 765G in the Pixel 5, camera is the same except the ultrawide and another thing here or there. But you'll pay half the price and get almost the same phone hahaha

              Trashy Google talk as always...

Google has been exposed again of their misleading marketing. LOL
