how long until your free 5GB icloud limit is reached?
still it's. ice to have the choice but I can definitely see the benefit for apple with icloud storage skyrocketing. would be nice to be able to remove raw once you have edited the picture or decided it's good enough with default settings. even better an option. to automatically remove raw data after 30days if it's still unedited

Still no green tint fix... Apple sells a crap phone for 1k dolars, and consumers have to suffer 1/4 year with a defective phone, then another model-year is about to be announced...

Pixels should have marketed it properly. They have had the same stuff from whenever pixel 3 was launched

                  why not

Backbutton should be at the bottom, not at top. Having it on top makes the big iPhones very difficult to use. Update after update, Apple simply didn’t understand this basic requirement.

                    Sad..

AnonD-923722, 15 Dec 2020Can Apple Pro RAW beat RAW formats on other phones? It will beat RAWs from other phones' stock camera apps (e.g. Sony, Samsung, Huawei etc) due to significantly higher signal to noise ratio. However, I actually believe HDR+ RAW from Gcam on phones with a large main sensor will still beat iPhone 12 Pro/Pro Max's ProRAW images.

AnonD-923722, 15 Dec 2020Can Apple Pro RAW beat RAW formats on other phones? Benefits of ProRAW is that while it has raw sensor data, it also has processing information on top, but in a separate layer so you can freely use just raw data or a combined one. Regular RAW is usually just raw sensor data and that's it.

AnonD-923722, 15 Dec 2020Can Apple Pro RAW beat RAW formats on other phones? Phone photography is lot about computational photography these days and Raw can't support those. That's why Apple made their own tweaked version of it so users can still have stuff like deep fusion and so on and still use RAW.

"Basically, RAW or JPEG formats require some form of compromise in either convenience or depth of editing. But Apple’s ProRAW format aims to remove those compromises.

ProRAW, in a nutshell, will capture RAW images but apply some image processing on top. This includes merging frames from several shots captured by the cameras on the iPhone 12 Pro, using Apple’s Deep Fusion and Smart HDR tech, or applying noise reduction. But it will still leave some room for editing things like color, exposure and contrast in the same depth that can be had with the RAW format."
