sometimes its amazing how greedy those company are, even tho they know they'll lose in sales.
just look at the s20 line up sale, samsung themself admited they were very dissapointed of the sale ratio and that they didnt expect it to be that low.
s10 line up sold way more than the s20.
and now they wanna boost up the price for the s21 line up *AND* cut of the inbox charger?
man.. whoever buys this phone need a serious check up.

Now add software, certification, 3rd party patents, R&D, marketing, import taxes on components, assembling costs, testing costs, distribuition all over the Earth, import taxes where they sell devices etc ...
I would be surprised if it costed less than $750 per unit to be made.
It is not just about being greedy. Non-chinese OEM will never match prices of chinese phones.

I actually like Samsung phones but come one Samsung, the s20 sold poorly and the current state of the world isn't any better than it was when the s20 family was release. I don't know maybe they aren't that interested in selling the S series anymore but only use it to show their ''new'' technology.

Those sub $400 phones from chinese have lower quality oled than Galaxy A series.
Example:
SD865 = $160
3K HDR oled screen = $90 (curves and cutouts increase price)
Imx586 (48MP 1/2" quadbayer ) = $25 [no lenses, no OIS included]
3 components alone are almost $300.
Even the $1000-1600 phones take crappy photos compared to camera, imagine phones like Redmi k30, realme x50, vivo iqoo. Look good only on 2MP screen below 20".

For... moreCPU and screen for sure. Cameras maybe not. I saw phones with good Oled screens at 300EUR (realme 7 pro). Also with SD865 at 350eur (poco f2 pro). So it is possible.
If you need so good quality camera, just buy some compact dedicated camera.
Personally, I don't need best cameras in my phones. Certainly not paying 800-1000eur for a gadget just because it has good cameras. Or wireless charging. Or IP rating. Useless gimmicks to me.

I have a Poco X3 which costs 180E, I could use that every day without an issue, performance- and camera-wise. It has everything that I need (apart from OIS) and a lot of nice stuff, worthy of a flagship. But it doesn't fit in my pants, while everything else does.

1399e for s21 ultra, what that is outrageous. If the use a exynos chip equal to the snapdragon I will definitely prefer the iphone
