S4 pro is a beast but lg,....must do a great job to optimize the software, I have s3 and one s, htc, after 5 months, is still trying ot optimize it with, in my opinion, not many good results, s3 is after two months just perfect and very well optimized! Look how laggy S4 is comparing to Exynos in HD games, Those benchmarks don't prove anything since Qualcomm are optimizing their chips for benchmarks not for real life quality even so Exynos still has better results in benchmarks

But so do the next OMAP and Tegra generation. TI's and Nvidia's A15s aren't out yet and have a good potential to boost competition. I have to admit Qualcomm has done great in terms of speed. If it wasn't for them, the other chip manufacturers wouldn't feel the pressure, and would continue milking old gen architectures.

But performance wise Exynos has proven to be superior. And I'm not saying the S4 Pro will be on par with the Exynos 5450 (even though that's the comparison to be made) but with the Exynos 5250. If this last chip doesn't come out in the next Note or iPhone, I'll go for a Quad Krait device since I cannot wait more than Xmas season to upgrade.

Well, that's kind of the Samsung/Exynos problem. They are lagging behind in releasing/availability, even if they are based som same ARM-generation. Doesn't help much if they will be more powerful when they get released 6-12 months after. . .

I don't think you disagree with him any much. He has mentioned several times, maybe not in this thread, that the current quadcore Exynos in GS3 is as powerful as the dualcore Krait, more or less. And that the coming new Exynos and Mali will be more or less equal to this quadcore krait and adreno 320. Will be exciting to actually see what the new Mali can do compared to the adreno. And just exactly does Samsung mean with 400 % improvement over Mali-400. On one specific part, or as a minimum on all types of processing? Now we've seen many benchmarks of this and that, and when it comes to power, I would be more interrested in which games will be supported rather than who gets the extra 100 point in quadrant. LG has been good at using Tegra in the Optimus 2x and 4x and hence making them good gaming phones.

He may be edging things, but in general I agree that LG will be first with this generation of power internationally, regardless of it being Qualcomm, Tegra, TI or Exynos. So even when the equal exynos comes out, it will be later, even if it's considered same generation. And if it comes in the Note 2, and doubtfully anything else anytime soon since that will completely bust the GS3'a "brand/status" and sales. And the Note 2 is more for a specific group and not your average smartphone user who is barely coping with the 4.7 inchers and wont dare to think about 5.5" as a phone. Do you see it as likely that Samsung will implement 5450 in a phone until GS4 next year? When Qualcomm probably already has something new ready?

You can't really say that the Exynos have been better than Snapdragon. Take the Exynos 4 dual (4210) in GS2, never got to use it's or the Mali's potential on that low res screen. And others already used qHD and 720-screens on S3, Tegra 2 and TI 4430/4460. Many more used the S3 and it was more widely supported. And don't count generation only, but availability in time. They don't release new models and generations at the same exact time, so comparing the dualcore krait to a future dualcore Exynos 5, gets a bit wrong. And now the quad Krait will higly likely be available in actual phones before the - most likely equal - Exynos 5 dual will be available in a phoneblet, rather then any phone.

Intel isn't using ARM design, but their own and their own rules, hehe. So a hypothetical 28nm wouldn't be the same as ARM's design. Saw this long interview somewhere with them explaining why and how. Basically they jumped that far because they can and doubt the rest will keep up with them once they now have genuinely entered the arena. Marketing talk, but still, looking forward to it.

Personally I'm hoping for a very powerful Motorola device next year, running on Intel and with a massive 3300mAh battery - or even higher xD

Who cares which phone will sell the... moreOf all yopur extra long comment which God-knows-why I read in full, there are some flaws. This half node custom architecture from Qualcomm (Krait)has proven it's not that powerful. The Dual Kraits are on par with the Exynos 4412 when clocked at the same frequencies (even the 4 A9 cores @1.4 GHz in the Exynos vs the 2 "A15" cores @1.5 GHz in the S4). Even Intel skipped the 28 nm arc (going from 32 nm directly to 22 nm) and I think there's a reason to avoid this design. On the other hand, Exynos have usually proven to be worth waiting for, blowing Qualcomm's chipsets out of the water in a majority of benchmarks and generally in everyday usage.

And don't get me wrong, this Quad S4 + Adreno 320 combo is truly impressive and image/processing quality is superb, but I guess it will be practically on par with the Exynos 5250 (Dual Exynos 5 + Mali T-604) and will not even be close to the level of the Exynos 5450 (Quad Exynos 5 + Mali T-654).
