AnonD-909757, 24 Dec 2020I am sure you proudly use IP rated phone near water despite... more3 years? MAXIMUM? Since I don't need the flagship 8-series processor or double digits of RAM and the camera aspect is anyway covered by my Nikon.
I am using OnePlus One as my primary driver, HTC Desire 816G as secondary and 10-year old Nokia X6 as mp3 player, and a 2012 Samsung Galaxy Tab 2. And none of them, to date, posed any significant problems. Of course, the battery degradation is there, and once I had to send them to get it cleaned. Apart from that, they are working all fine.
And I won't need to change any of those until the Indian ISPs stop providing 4G connectivity.

So, I NEED 10-year warranty for a moving part in my phone. And if at all that moving is so reliable as you mentioned, then what's the matter in providing 10-year warranty?

It's not just a matter of "selfies". I rarely used them anyway. But rather, a simple logic of DELIBERATELY buying a non-durable phone.

BTW, you are just proving your "intellect" by comparing a space shuttle and a smartphone.

    Why hasn't Apple, Samsung and others used under-display tech?? Seems if ZTE could do it those other companies should have also. apples could have gotten rid of their stupid notch, and Samsung wouldn't need the "hole punch." Why are other companies not doing it for their soon to be released line early next year?

      Pop up camera are more reliable and durable than key components like display, battery and electronics.
      It have survived many torture tests and proven to be able to perform 100 actuations a day for over 7 Fricking years, and that's a minimum.
      All that for a phone you'll change in 3 years maximum.
      And even if it breaks it simply means no more selfies, the rest of the phone will still be perfectly usable.

      The American Space Shuttle has several millions of moving parts, none were responsible for the two losses.
      The Opportunity Mars Rover was built around moving parts, it was made to last 3 little months, it operated on the ultra dusty Martian environment for over 14 years.
      And here we are, in 2020, almost 3 years after the first smartphone with a pop up and almost no reports of failure, and after a while of phone with moving parts that were never an issue or a concern, and you post that...

      The only issue of the pop up is that it got released in this period where fear monger that apparently have so little discipline that they can't imagine NOT dropping the phone the rare times the pop up is lifted, are all everywhere.

          Two years of punch hole invading the market and being almost the only option was enough, let's NOT do it again with the privacy killer that is underdisplay camera.

                Specs and build quality wise, ZTE's created a winner and this is also an industry first which I respect them for. That said, the pre-release selfie shared from this phone is seemingly much sharper:

                  But actually more and more concept phones have a pop up, there start to be more models with pop up, and the vast majority of users who have a phone with a pop up are satisfied and love it, plus we are getting near the 3 year limit most people change their phones at from the first pop up, which will create a lot of demand.
                  Smartphones with pop up are among the most popular and appreciated ever :
                  Poco F2 Pro, OnePlus 7 Pro/7T Pro, Mi 9t Pro/K20 Pro, Oppo Find X.

                  Underdisplay camera will ALWAYS have quality issues, is it the worst for privacy which more and more becomes aware of, the cost is stupid high (this beta test phone does not represent it at all), and the face recognition capabilities will always be bad with almost no improvement possibilities.
                  And except for this joke implementation, everyone has worked for years ob this tech, meanwhile even obscure Smartphones brands have easily implemented pop up, there is in fact no guarantee what so ever that any other phone with underdisplay camera ever got released, as the MI Mix Alpha, which by the way the MI Mix Alpla 2 got revealed not long ago, and it have a pop up.

                  More and more concepts using the main camera and therefor not having any front camera appear, including one with a removable main/back camera that can be used wirelessly.

                  So actually nothing is sure at all, underdisplay camera might become a big disappointment, and with few good articles testimony of how durable the pop up is and how well it do its job, or how much better and practical phones without front camera and remotely operating main one are, things can quickly and easily change.

                  The ONLY reason why the pop up didn't became mainstream was because too much fear mongering ignorants idiots kept constantly talking about the same "wear", "water", "dust", "moving parts", "fragile", "drops" myths that almost never were an issue.
                  I am sure that there are actually more of those people than the actual number of pop up related issues.
                  Also, just after, the punch hole (that was overhyped as an anti-notch as the underdisplay camera is overhyped as an anti-punch hole, the same way the notch was overhyped as an anti-bezels) was over market and news media were showing it everywhere.

                  So indeed, wait and see, but the underdisplay camera isn't the great hero/savior/solution as you might think.

                  No tech should become "mainstream" over all others anyway, diversity is The best solution a'd should be the only one.

                      P.S. All technologies take time to improve. This tech would be far superior within 2-3 years.

                        Shocking news, putting a camera under a display give you poor quality and isn't worth it.
                        And with this beta test product you haven't even seen the crazy price increase this gimmick will cause.

                        Now that we've sorted that out of the way, can we finally forget it and go back to pop up camera?

                          A lot of the underdisplay photo is software related too. Hopefully they release updates to enhance the image.

                            The under-display camera doesn't perform as terribly as you might assume. And you can't easily tell the low-res area of the screen unless you purposely try to look for it.

                            All things considered. It's a decent phone for $450. The shiny back panel looks very cool in black (watch jerryrig's video). Overall specs are good for a midranger.

                            Also, 10bit display is a nice bonus.

                              from the video, we can see the selfie picture quality is not good under the light source. Better take picture without any lamp in the background.

                              Maybe the display glass surface above the camera reflected all incoming light.
