Yes, People need to understand about cost. A single 2MP cost a few bucks which someone already state around 5-10$. so, there is no big different. But with market strategy, 3-4 camera is big different. Which will cost sales price around 50-100$. Even one of the camera is 2MP.

Macro camera on Mi 10T is amazing, would prefer that than ultra wide.

Ha! Chargers and cables seem to be the hot topic still (until everyone else gets on board, not only Samsung and Xiaomi :D ). So how to solve it?
One user-friendly solution would be: Come to brand shop/authorised reseller with ORIGINAL charger and/or cable. On request, you'd get an ORIGINAL replacement discounted by some significant (e. g. 70-90 %) amount.
When buying a new phone, it would be reasonable to give us an option to buy it with/without charging accessories. Again, with some price adjustments. (I find this solution less realistic :P ).
Third, If you're buying an €1000+ phone, keep your damn fast charger and cable which you've got with your last one (you've been boasting about for months here) - alternatively, keep the 2-to-whatever USB-A/C port aftermarket PD charger you've bought afterwards ;)

hekkyUK, 04 Jan 2021Am I the only one that actually likes having a macro lens????You're not alone, I also love Macro shots, But there is no point of having a dedicated subpar Macro cam that performs worse than (for example) a macro capable UltraWide cam with AutoFocus.

A subpar cam is a waste of space.

There's a lens just for taking pictures of Marco?

Anonymous, 04 Jan 2021You can buy an extra charger but dumb-looking fake sensors ... moreIf you don't like them, don't buy them. The reason why they're there is because people want them. Things like boheh or wide angle moves social media. If you don't use it, that's fine but don't assume that if people on a tech website are not into it, majority of the population isn't either.

If I could choose from two equal phones with equal prices, one with glass and one with plastic back, I'm taking the plastic one any day of the week. The only advantage of the glass back is that it "looks more premium", but I'm not a 14 year girl who needs to flex on her friends with fancy looking phone.

                  Metal > plastic > glass.

It's about the implications, manufacturers add those useless sensors to fool people into thinking they're useful, so if you buy one of those it implies you were fooled by it as well.

These depth/macro sensors are an equivalent of slapping a Mercedes logo on a Fiat. It's just cringe.

For me, that waterfall or curved screen is not needed. Flat screens can be cheaper and spend savings to something else more useful.

Let's get real. As much as a good macro would benefit me (very high magnification some special 2mp or so sensors have a 20 stop+ reach, which is all useful for the practical purposes a trade person or researcher, person getting a quote or medical, might use a macro for) but why can't they make a single sensor with extremely good lens system do it. One or two sensors.

I'll show you what I mean. Samsung has the original patent on larger format liquid lens technology. The liquid lens they electrically shape in the fly and it increases quality while reducing size of lense system.

Another way to reduce size is folded optics, which the US military pounced on for their drives, and took off the market. But basically, a large flat thin lense of 1-7 cm accross on the back of the phone. Not saying you would normally make it more than 0.5-2cm, but it's able to go big as an attachment for a special model. The light enters at angles, bounces around inside the thin lens before focusing on the sensor. Obviously a few things to be donee there for focusing and zoom but that's the several idea of it. But, the simpler system that phones use, is a mirror at 90 degree under the from lense to shoot the light sideways, down the inside of the phone, through a whole lense stack before hitting the sensor. So, you can put a big lense stack in the camera module. But, if you want to use a big sensor and big lenses, obviously most flagship phones are not thick enough, so some compression etc of the image along this path is needed. But here is a suggestion. When not in use the lenses in the lens stack can be made rotate a bit sideways, to keep the lens module more flush with the thin phone, and when activated the sideways module expand out of the phone and the lens rotate into place. With this, you could make the lense rotate out of stack and fully sit sideways to either side, making and incredibly thin phone possible. Also, any hackers will have to pop this module up to see. But, what if we were to keep bouncing the light up and down along the module (this always losses light each bounce) without needing a module to pop up. But, as we are talking liquid lense technology here, it's possible to make each element liquid in such a way, that the module can fit flush when not used.

It's a bit complex, but that's where the fun stuff comes from. You have incredibly big phones with the opportunity to make incredibly long lense modules with the extra space.

So, what thickness it turns out, you can do some incredible model like this, and for the trades men rugged models.

But, which is more important. A super lens module, or that stills quality is good enough, but video quality has a way to go. Which is another opportunity for camera phones.

potato4k, 03 Jan 2021Not sure why people against plastic chassis, other than due... moreI totally agree. Today, some plastic looks like glass, with better durability against cracking on falling down. +3 upvotes on your post mean I'm not alone with this opinion.

But this will obviously mean service centers will have a smaller bill of materials... as less things break down. Companies think in that angle too, unfortunately.

Lol they said, Marco Lens in the image. Marco. :D

Anyhow, what I hate most about new phones are roughly everything- non removable batteries, no 3.5mm jack, useless cameras, no small lightweight phones, bloatware- no choice of a ready firmware with everything private, etc.
