03 January 2021
The faster chipset enables AI-based video night mode - an improvement, even though the camera is mostly the same.

There is no alternative. S21 -> very expensive crap without sdcard. Oneplus also without sdcard. Huawei best phones but bootloader not unlockable, no root and proprietary.
I'm really thinking of buying the one year old S20 with the two year old camera or even the two year old S10.

                                    J. , 03 Jan 2021A 108 megapixel sensor can do what a telephoto x3 doesYes and no.
A dedicated telephoto sensor has bigger pixels, 1μm or even larger. This helps, when there's less light.

IpsDisplay, 03 Jan 2021It is not worth it so far the snapdragon 888 seems to be a... moreRegrettably either the Kirin 9000 and A14 performed significantly better than the SD888, here's a throttling test for the A14:

                                      https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=embeCloBNYs

This result is much better than the A13 in i11 Pro Max with 15% throttling, still the phone runs very warm (at one spot) regardless which is uncomfortable for long gaming sessions.

If you check Notebookcheck results for the Kirin, the 3DMark result is around 45-50%, but keep in mind that Huawei does not allow their phones to run too hot unlike other Androids.

I don't get why people are calling the SD888 throttling fake when this has been proven in benchmarks and games.

The only downside is ads in in MIUI, then there's Xiaomi's planned obsolescence of shyting customers with every future updates with deliberate bugs to battery drain & kill them off or alright abandon support for 1 year. A very shady chinese company. Good hardware maybe but terrible horrible software experience. What's hardware when software experience is shytee after paying a lot of money. Never again buy a Xiaomi phone.
