First Huawei P50 Pro model hints at smaller screen, single punch hole camera

31 December 2020
The sides of screen are still very curved, which helps make the phone smaller (it will be about the same size as the vanilla P40).

Also there isn’t a lot of stuff they have done that over companies weren’t also working on. Also LG g3 released around the same time as oppo find 7 with QHD displays, oppo announced it first but it was ready at the same time as LG, and they were both too early as the hardware struggled to push the pixels. Also the essential phone came out with the first drop type notch, and it also came out before the iPhone.

These people think having flashy colours is innovation. In that case u11 was among the first phone which had different colour based on how u held it. Solar red is still my favourite thing.

"The display will measure 6.6”, which means it’s closer in size to the P40 than the P40 Pro (which has a 6.58” panel)." It seems there is a mistake here. P40's display size is 6.1 inches, P40 Pro has 6.58.

TEtech, 01 Jan 2021as you said, always among the first but never firstBeing the first isn't necessarily a requirement to be innovative.
Making a good combination of already existing things can also be innovation.
Here, there were not only the first, but they are still the only one who made a pop up with 3D face recognition tech.
Despite it being a no-brainer, the goal of the pop up is literally to avoid taking up display real estate, 3D facial recognition is one of those tech quite demanded without phones that come with it, except iPhones, the last with proper 3D face recognition (Structured light instead of ToF) on the Android side was the Pixel 4 and 4XL...
Why putting a pop up only to put a single camera on it, I mean, on some phones, why not, but on all ? Not even a front flash/floodlight ?

Plus there is no need to reinvent the wheel each time, just making something different is already a great thing.
But this is true that after the Reno 2 they didn't do much and literally the only thing that really make one of their phone released since the Reno stand out (and it isn't by much), is the Ace 2 who have a round camera configuration while all others are rectangular, other than that, all the other phones are basically the same with the same features again and again and just different specs.
From the Find X with his more than unique design to the Reno 2Z which is one of their last phone with a pop up, there were interesting things, from the Reno itself to the Reno 10x Zoom, though outside pop camera and two phones with medium notch, it was not that diverse, but it is still way more than currently.

Still as a P20 Pro user, I remain completely baffled by the removal of tiny LED notification light that does not drain the battery, yet give very powerful visual message if there is a message and from which app. What is the problem ? It can't be technical or economics.

Why do I have to turn the screen on to see if I have any messages ? I can live without Google Play. But I cant run my board meetings without a discreet LED notification.
For me this was the primary reason I immediately returned my P30 Pro, and did not bfind other upgrading to P40 Pro, and looks like I have to either go to another manufacturer or keep on using my reliable P20 Pro.

Hopefully Huawei can have make this display awesome. Cameras are expected to be the best, there’s really nothing you can do with the chip, but I think they should be able to do a 10 bit 120 hz QHD+ display. The 10 bit 120 hz on nova 8 pro was nice, but add in the QHD+ on the Mate 20 Pro would be awesome

How big is the camera sensor is the only question I have. They should work on fitting 1" sensor into phones.

They should also drop that awful waterfall screen. Go back to flat!

Forget those buttons, you could just leave touch control even on off screen, anything that moves is more likely to fail sooner.
