AnonymousOverLord, 22 Jan 2021I don't think 6ghz WiFi exsistsTo be clear, this wifi router is in no way shape or form, 6E. Not even sorta, as they are implying. It does not have the 6 GHz band, as all WiFi 6E routers do.

Hmmm, 03 Jan 2021Is it not weird that they make a router which supports 3,6g... moreAs far as I know, there is only a single 2.5 Gbps port and it's for the WAN connection. This is enough to support the fiber upgrades of your carrier in the following years.
The way to split all this bandwidth at home between Gigabit LAN links and all your Wifi connections up to 4.804 Mbps (max.theoretical speed asuming no other devices connected in the 5 Ghz band) makes perfect sense to me.
This max speed available in Wifi 6E shows how much the technology has evolved in the last years in comparison to the domestic Ethernet standards.

I have two of their routers and never changing the firmware/OS thinking how something basic could go wrong. around 3 years, i kept with the bugs and multiple reboots of the two routers until a few months ago where I flashed them with Padavan for USB print hosting. to my surprise, the Padavan is fast/lightweight and never needed a restart until this morning where the 5Ghz signal just disappeared but the 2.5 GHz and wired is fine.

but their router OS is so bad and basic, I think many OS wifi routers from more than 10 years ago are better

New technologies and innovations take time to become mainstream. That does not mean you stop new technologies in your phones. Rather, you should support the latest innovations in ur phones.
It is a fact that apple deliberately does not put latest innovations on their latest phones (prob they save for next year). It is a fact that apple adopts some piece of technology only once it had become mainstream. It is bc of this that iphones are behind in things like charging, notches, HRR, res, ppi,.....

They can put all the modern hardware they want. The software is what will make the difference. Unfortunately only Ubiquity knows how to properly do router software. I've had my fair share of "high end" or "gaming" router from Asus, Netgear and others and at the end of the day they can't compete with Ubiquiti's Amplifi.
