This MediaTek chipset doesn't look promising, it looks really good but not for a flagship phone. They should be using the Kirin 9000 or Snapdragon 888 or at least the new dimensity 1200. All will come down to what pricing they will offer for the three versions of this phone.

It is not clear if older honor phones will be updated and become Google certified yet and also if this new V40 will be. If happens that new honor phones are certified then it's clear why the older ones are not an option.

Yes it was new and kind of weird for the first few days but no regrets now as there are a lot of alternatives.

Google Pay was my favorite Payment App. Happy with PhonePe now.

everyone should skip v40 and v40pro and nova 8 and nova 8 pro bcoz these two are identical except one thing processor. they are downgrade from their predecessor. honor 20 pro and v30 pro and nova 7 have better cameras than this new models. don't waste money on this v40 series and nova 8 series otherwise u will regret later.

                As for dead on arrival.

                  Price?

This probably, will still not have gms, since this was developed when Honor was still part of Huawei.

I experienced that way back in 2014 when i used the Amazon Fire Phone (a very underrated phone BTW), it didn't have any google apps at all, but that didn't bother me. I adapted to the Google-free life pretty early & had a good experience using the phone.

If anyone tries any new Huawei phones, they'll have a similar experience. That is unless if they're addicted to Google services, in which case they should avoid Huawei phones.

                                Whats the cost

Anonymous, 08 Jan 2021hopefully no EmuiEMUI to me is the best Android overlay that has emerged out of China, and it shows. Very mature UI, liquid smooth with a level of immediacy & cohesiveness that is somewhat lacking in other China branded phones. EMUI feels like a complete package. This edge of EMUI over other Chinese vendor UI's are quite understandable, none of its Chinese competitors have the financial might of Huawei.

But then don't get me wrong, the FuntochOS over Android 10 is very good on my Vivo NEX S, so is the latest ColorOS over Android 10 running on my Oppo F7. I will say the FlymeOS on my Meizu 16th lags a little behind but still very good. MIUI 12 over Android 10 on my Poco M2 Pro also feels very refined, truly impressed as my first Xiaomi phone. But my Honor View 10 running latest EMUI 10 over Android 10 is a touch above all. At-least to me.

When I bought the non GMS, Honor 9X Pro running Android 9 over EMUI 9, I expected havoc. After using the phone for 2 weeks I am mighty impressed as Huawei is still able to preserve the high standards of EMUI with or without GMS.

Adul Al Salami Kebab, 08 Jan 2021Hopefully this phone comes with GMS not having Huawei behin... morePreviously I was so heavily reliant on Google eco-system, I could not think of using a phone without my absolute necessary apps like Gmail, Chrome & Keep. Two weeks back I got hold of a Honor 9X Pro (6/256 GB, Global variant), as they were selling dirt cheap in India @INR 12.75K ($170/€156) for stock clearance. This is the first time I used a phone devoid of Google Mobile Services (GMS) as 9X Pro is solely reliant on Huawei Mobile Services (HMS). Hence no Google Playstore in this Honor.

After using the phone for two weeks without GMS, now I can safely say I can live with it. Inbuilt Huawei AppGallery and authentic Amazon AppStore fulfills 70% of my app needs in this phone. For the rest 30% I get it from ApkPure app store. In this phone I have completely switched to Microsoft Cloud based eco-system. I trust it. Believe me when I say Microsoft eco system is damn good on Android. Just never used it before as I was so accustomed to the Google ecosystem on Android.

                                    I changed from:
                                    a) Google Gmail -> Microsoft Outlook
                                    b) Google Chrome -> Microsoft Edge
                                    c) Google Keep -> Microsoft OneNote
                                    d) Google Docs, Sheet, Slides -> Microsoft Office

The Edge browser particularly impressed me. I can safely say it has reached to the level of Chrome, maybe just 2% behind. Everything is as snappy as Chrome but with more added features like Collections tab which I love. In my Windows PC, I synced all my Chrome bookmarks & history to Edge on a second and voila, it is now available on the Edge browser of my PC as well as to Honor 9X Pro thanks to similar cloud based eco-system like Google. In my eyes Microsoft is the saving grace on non GMS Android phones.

Apart from the software the Honor 9X Pro is a great phone for its price. Thanks to my friends, I was able to directly compare it with Poco X2/ Redmi K30, Realme 7, Poco X3 & even Poco M2 Pro/ Redmi Note 9 Pro.

Everything considered, in my eyes only two phones stands oot, the X2 & 9X Pro. X2 have better cameras front & rear and for everything else the 9X Pro is the best. Know we know the strength of Huawei backing Honor.

Hopefully this phone comes with GMS not having Huawei behind them makes me worried about pre-installed adware or spyware... The only phone brands 100% sure doesn't seem to come with any is Huawei and Oppo! :|
