There will be improvements in the software department, though.

From the beginning any "significant updates" on iPhones are present only on slides during presentations))) 30% faster, 14% lighter, 9% ... and bla bla bla... (:

"There will be improvements in the software department, though."

Yeah, right. I compared the iPhone 12 Pro Max photos against the iPhone 11 Pro and the iPhone XS and I'm gonna say this: The XS with Smart HDR turned on still produces the best iPhone photo quality to date. Really not happy with the newer iterations, especially with their severe oversharpening mess. The 12 Pro Max and 11 Pro only looks good on social media, that's about it. Would I upload their full-res photos on sites like Flickr or Shutterstock? No, not even slightly!

That’s fine,iPhones still remain the best out there in terms of taking great quality pictures consistently without having to fiddle at all, also the very best quality video. They will probably maintain their lead for years to come.:)

Your tests show that the ultrawide camera is letting the side down. It needs an upgrade.

don't expect any upgrade on iphones**

iPhones are only good at video. Well, very good. At taking photos they're definitely not better than some Android flagships.

Which means there won't be an significanct price hike like on android phones. Which is great. If yoy can achieve the same amount of quality with less hardware, then it is an win 100%. You don't need too pricy hardware.
