add 200 grams and subtract 1000 euros or so and you have a great 14" ultrabook by lenovo or a macbook air. Anyways these surface shite always makes me chuckle.

          Maybe not with your iPhone as it has got the worst connectivity due to being a locked system.
          But Android and Windows mesh well brilliantly.

Everything gets synced up between my iPhone and iPad. I can even open any file that I need to on my iPad. all My photos and files get synced all across all my apple devices. I can always resume anything I do on any device that I use. I can't do any of that on my surface tablet. Like I said, my surface Pro 7 is more for buisness and my Apple devices are for playtime.

                Windows satisfies the requirements of all kinds of users - personal as well as business/professionals. I can literally install the Windows of choice on my Surface Pro.
                As someone else in the comment section said, IPad OS literally feels like a cheap toy in front of it.

                  They're better off letting others make devices with their OS.
                  I don't think anyone would buy a game on windows store if the same thing is available on steam.
                  And the apps in windows store are barely usable.😂.
                  But Windows is still good if you're using a desktop or laptop. The huge number of useful applications that can take advantage of the raw power of desktop CPUs and GPUs is a good enough reason to go for windows in that space.
                  But all surface products are underpowered with obsolete hardware and overpriced for what they offer.

Same is true now as well with the Windows 10. Additionally, how Windows Store functions doesn't give you enough confidence either. It's slow & sluggish & doesn't sync with different areas properly (uses html/css). I'm a developer myset so I know what I'm talking about.

                    FYI, microsoft are again shifting gears & bringing Windows 10X to replace RT on tablets having only Store apps. Again if they fail to deliver on quantity & quality of apps on Windows 10X it is destined to fail miserably as well IMO.

                    To Windows 10X I see this as a sign that will part ways with Windows 10 soon in the near future. Which is good & was supposed to stay like so in the first place. Just like Apple is doing with their Macs and iPads. This hybrid stuff has suffered Microsoft a lot & will do more if they do not correct it in the coming years.

                    It is a hard fact that they are not their with the tablets just yet, atleast until unless they come out of this hybrid stuff. This is just my personal opinion & again I'm not a hater.

                          There's no real advantage for surface pro 7 if you're going to use your tab for browsing the web, reading or something lightweight.
                          S7 doesn't have an AMOLED screen unlike s7+. It's beautiful and all, but you're better off with a 256GB/8GB tab s6 if you can get a good deal.
                          To be honest it's better to wait for a month or two and see if Samsung has plans to upgrade the next tab with the rumoured chip with amd graphics.
                          Either way since you don't want an iOS device, s7+ or the old s6 would be the best option if you're strictly looking for a tablet that gives you a good battery life for use as, well, a tablet. Android is no replacement for full Windows experience. But surface pro uses intel's core ixxxxU chips, and they're not really enough to give you any performance advantage and they have tons of security vulnerabilities.
                          Maybe it'd get better with pluton. And the performance might increase if they release chips with their XE graphics. Or if they decide to go amd.
                          Basically, surface pro just isn't worth the price they're asking for. You're gonna need a better chip for good performance. You need a better gpu for gaming. The advantages that windows offers are all nullified by the underpowered cpu.
                          But yes, if you like the design or portability etc etc etc and find it attractive, you can just go for it. (It was really attractive when it was first introduced, just like the original macbook air).

We might see Fuschia in a year or two and google would probably abandon android just like they did with nexus.
                                    Galaxybook S could actually be a good alternative for Surface pro. But I have never used it and it hasn't been updated this year. I still think it'd be best if you wait for HP to update the x360 13" to Ryzen 7 5800u.

Im coming from a spectre 13 but i like my daughter's surface 7 its lighter and more portable. I havent used any android tablets yet nor chromebooks. But may be this year chromebooks will get better?
                                        I just want a detacheable keyboard with it and a compatible pen. Im not eyeing any apple products though.
