There is no challenge.
When comes to speed apple is a bit better maybe but when comes to real performace apple chips are useless and bad for gaming.
Thius Intel is a very easy winner.

Intel claimed that while on battery power, AMD reduces performance by 40%~ while Intel reduces it by 8% only.
The ultimate result turned out to be that, due to smaller construction process, AMD's advantages far outweigh any disadvantages, in an overall picture.

However, my second point on Intel's marketing being superior can't be rejected. I'm sure you'll admit Intel have sorted the market better.

Also, the enthusiasts may not give a damn but their marketing, the margin they give to middlemen still makes them a player even today. An overboosted player maybe, but a player nonetheless.

Anonymous, 12 Jan 2021For 11th gen and so on Intel should be support pcie gen 4 a... moreThey are going to support PCIe gen 4 but apparently the chipset or the CPUs only support one gen 4 SSD at full speed. Any additional gen 4 SSD will run at gen 3 speeds.

Not really a concern for me personally since gen 3 is plenty fast for my use case, but the 14nm node is more concerning to me. You will end up paying more for electricity.

Lmao the 10900k was a 10-core cpu while the 11900k is an 8-core cpu? Both with 5.3ghz boost! That's not mentioned in the article.

Shanti Dope, 12 Jan 2021Aiming to beat Apple's M1 silicon? How will they do it... moreNope, not even AMD will compete with Apple, unless they too switch to ARM. You're comparing x86 CPU's to Apple's custom ARM SOC. AMD will also run super hot and at super high frequencies in order to beat Apple.

The future will be ARM though, unless Intel/AMD can pull off some sort of miracle with x86.

Aiming to beat Apple's M1 silicon? How will they do it when they're using a fabrication process that's about half in terms of efficiency?

Sure they can do it, but at what cost? Maybe 10x greater power consumption or up to 90°C higher temperature, or much worse is if it's both.
Right now, the M1 MacBooks are totally destroying every Intel MacBooks that were also released in 2020, which indicates just how much Intel has been left behind.

If there's anyone out there that can truly rival Apple's mastery of processors, it's definitely AMD as of the moment.
Things are just going to get worse for Intel if they continue to offer their new products at a much higher price compared to the competition, and sure enough they can't be asking higher prices compared to AMD if they want to capture back their performance advantages.

Does anyone care about Intel anymore?
AMD has destroyed the competition in both desktop and laptop segment.
Even Gaming that was Intel's Forte due to higher clock speeds is no longer the case as AMD has finally matched Intel's performance.
