Battery has lost just 660 mAh so far.

It’s clearly because of covid. Most phone sales are happening in $200 area. Those are kind of phones regular users just buy when they visit mall etc. Something you don’t necessarily need but because it’s there why not. And now when stores been closed and people don’t want or are able to move in places those regular sales just doesn’t happen or are lot less. Companies who sell more expensive phones will get their sales because their users have wanted to buy those. That’s why we see iPhone sales are so high and unaffected mostly by this covid.

Even more the nowadays mid-range smartphones are powerful enough to do any task easily and don't cost a fortune. Now you can live with a phone 3-4 easily, maybe just to change the battery.

Add research & development, certifications, software, import taxes on components, royalties of third party tech, quality control tests, manufacturing costs, import taxes of each country the phone is available , marketing, transportation of devices all over the world ...
Let's also remember many brands (not the chinese ones) sustain own repair service in all the countries they sell phones.

Be sure some phones cost easily more than $650 to be made.

Also older models got proce cut when new ones were announced.

Apple also had amazing quarter in China.

” Chinese DigiTimes, who cite their local sources, say Apple sold around 18 million iPhones in China in the fourth quarter of last year. This allowed the company to gain more than 20 percent market share between October and December. . By contrast, all Chinese producers took 78 percent in total”

That was up whopping 48% from iPhone 11 sales. Well done

So nice to see so many people buying these great phones. Lot of new happy iPhone users

YUKI93, 13 Jan 2021I might understand with the increase of shipment for Xiaomi... moreIt's only in your fantasy world that Apple doesn't perform. In the real world, Apple outperforms all.

Makes sense seeing as Apple are the only ones who’s flagships sell in enough numbers to make it into the Top 5 sales of individual phones. :)
                              They own the premium segment.
Lookin forward to the profit share numbers I am sure Apple will still be taking the lions share of profits in the industry seeing as they are the only ones able to see premium phones in high numbers.

AnonD-972548, 13 Jan 2021Companies (with few exception) released more expensive phon... moreThis is entirely true. Fanboys will praise anything and everything on the market regardless of repurcussions. The selling price of brands in China has been nearly 50% lower than global releases. We've also failed to see these brands in most countries worldwide. So, "China-only" marketing has left a wide gap in emerging markets as well as Europe and the US. What a shame the BOM of a phone is $350 and a greedy company sells it for $1000. R&D and marketing can't account for $200 on every phone, let alone three times the amount. So, what's happening? Companies are trying to rip off clients with gimmicks. Let's see the year-on-two-year sales in 2021 then. Fake human tradition will only account for YOY sales, but this is confusing, 2020 wasn't just existent, or was it an OEM wake-up call?

I might understand with the increase of shipment for Xiaomi smartphones, but Apple? Really?

Companies (with few exception) released more expensive phones. Or, if they released phones at the same prices, they cut things in other departments, just to keep the same profits.
But, some people have begin to realise this (hence this negative figures), the ones who are more intelligent or know how to spend their money better.
The fanboys are the worst, blind, going head first without much thinking and praising just about everything their beloved companies put on the market.
Well, if the world would have been full of intelligent people, these companies would have gone bankrupt. Lol. Lucky for them, blind fanboys exist.
