Love the game --- seems like you are the main charter in a movie. However, glitches aside ( I am on PC ) -- it seems the game was launched without enough thought. I followed the quests and gigs as they came up -- and even alongside doing the main quest. However, I reached a point I was level 29 and my perks etc were about 20% done. Admit I had not done the fights- thought I would leave that for later. Not sure if you are going to add a PART 2 and one could continue with the level you finished at. That aside-- Really enjoyed game.

Anonymous, 14 Jan 2021They don't write every single code themselves. There a... moreNah, certainly not for a big game like that.
Small games or amateur games are made using the visual programming node system in modern game engines quite often, but even there, there are a lot of games where they write their own code.
The big engines like CryEngine, Unreal Engine or Unity are indeed often used for projects that aren't from big studio, but the truth is, most big studio don't just write their own code, they in fact write their own engine.
For example, GTA IV and V and Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 use RAGE, which stand for Rockstar Advanced Game Engine, which obviously with such a name is made by Rockstar.
Skyrim and Fallout 4 and 76 runs on the Creation Engine which is made by Bethesda.
The Witcher 3 use REDengine 3 and Cyberpunk 2077 use the REDengine 4, both made by cd Projekt RED.
Half Life Alyx run on the Source 2 engine, made by Valve.
Elite Dangerous use COBRA made by Frontier Developments.
You can find even more niche example if you want, like this game :
        https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wc_QC25RM44
        Teardown.

As example, a smaller project like Kerbal Space Program who run on Unity, medium-sized projects like Ark on Unreal Engine, or big projects like Star Citizen who used to run on modified CryEngine 3 nicknamed "Star Engine", but now run on the Amazon owned modified CryEngine called Amazon Lumberyard.

Akinaro, 14 Jan 2021Not really. All games today work in the same way as before,... moreWrong, games are totally different nowadays, the AI and gameplay is nothing, game engine are way more complex than before, and Object Oriented Programming became an obsession for many and now everything must be coded as an object, which open more doors for bugs than anything.
Modern consoles are not much different from PC, there used to be a time when you basically needed to code the game for each platform independently, but now consoles are basically a computer with a fancy user interface.

Dometalican, 14 Jan 2021Small world! I'm 30 as well. But yea, still wish they ... moreI don't think it would have changed much, the way game development work is usually by having a team with dedicated jobs, so the one who did the 3D character and the animations aren't the same as those who recorded the sound, which aren't the same as those who coded the missions, etc.
And though I haven't played the game, the issues are clearly from the game core itself where a lot of bug fixes are still needed, and those aren't the same guy who work on the rest of the game.
A lot of 3D artists or sound engineers/designers don't even do programming, and those who can code the game's missions and other parts like that aren't necessarily able to go deep into the graphic engine, physic engine and all that.

Flying Zer0, 15 Jan 2021Why so severe? After the Witcher I'd let them do whate... moreAs a dev, I give them credit for the game they released, bugs or not. It seems like a fun game to play.

Bug-wise, part of me is surprised that the game is still buggy after 8 years, but knowing they're a single team and that the project started during Witcher, their ressources might have been limited and, maybe, the people taking care of the release might have asked to restart 3 years in, whether it's because it wasn't good enough for them or whether it wasn't developped for something they want to add.

I have hope for them for one reason: they made the entire Witcher series AND a card game with a 30-35h story. Can they fix it? Of course they can. Give them time.

On ps4 pro the game been pretty much fine since one day after release, except for crashes after playing at least 3-4 hours. And a few phones from npc's stuck mid air, but nothing close to what i saw ppl get on the old ps4. They should have skipped the old gen and none of this would have happened

I started playing it on launch day with an original Xbox one and though it looked grainy, it actually performed fine and I never experienced a bug. I enjoyed it. I've since upgraded to the series x and can't think of a game Ive loved so much since Skyrim. I've had two bugs on the series x, and they were bad, but a hard reset later and it's back to a beautiful game.

Weird how the bugs and all that aren't consistent. I LOVE this game.

That's cool and all. But let's talk about nba2k. A game that blatantly robs users blind year after year.

I honestly have more problems and bugs with 2k then I do with Cyberpunk. My story isn't unique.

Try to boot up nba2k21 on ps5. I kid you not it will take approximately 5 minutes to load. No bs. A full 5 minutes.

Lmfao. The ps5 is ass and so are most of the games and no one seems to care. Everyone is just crying about cyberpunk.
