15 January 2021
The sensor can output 12-bit HDR, has a low-noise mode, which boosts sensitivity in low light, and an improved autofocus system.

Bruh, I have seen Apple and Samsung doing more user's private data collection than Sony ever since. Heck, I haven't even heard Sony being reported to doing such acts.
If there's anything that a Sony phone is collecting private data, it's most probably Google itself, which Sony has no control of.

Yes, Sony did a great job of being the villain for offering true glimpses to the future with their creative products. Everyone basically wants Samsung and Apple to always come on top, so Sony's repeated acts of overtaking them in progression is making people go nuts against them.

Anonymous, 15 Jan 2021Couldn't agree more. And it's not about agreeing ... more40-50 is the best right now. But 108 is definitely better than 12mp. Just like you said look at sony and iphone they are way behind other flagships. They should ditch 12mp cameras if they want to compete.

AnonD-923722, 15 Jan 2021Then can you explain the more noisy footage of the samsung ... moreIn this comparison, which phone has brighter footage?
Higher ISO also means faster shutter.
If you slow down shutter for videos at night, huge chance of blurred video. AF is always weak at lower light no matter the type and device (even applies to real cameras).

Video with higher ISO avoids blur, make scene brighter at expense of texture.
There will always be tradeoffs when you have small sensors used by phones.

always lots of words, nothing meaningful in reality , i've seen a a low light photo already and iphone with its smaller sensor captures a slightly better picture without night mode. Ultrawide, same small sensor with big aperture .
I have a feeling p50 pro will destroy it once again.

As article remember, the multiframe tech is what cant handle motion, because each frame is different, they do not overlap each other. Those phones with RGB + monochrome turn off HDR when dual cam is working.

                          Bayer sensors have faster readout.

And it's not about agreeing or not, it's a FACT that right now, 12-20MP, even some 40 and 50MP, are WAY better than 108. They perform and give you way better images than 108MP ones... Just look at iphone and the Sony's experia you said. Samsung is pure gimmick and bad software

                              1. Why is this sensor still limited to just 240 fps @ 1080p?

                              2. Its nona bayer which could bring good improvements in low light but won't this mean very bad detail levels? Won't it be just like an oversized 12MP sensor?
How will it take good 8k video then, noiselessly?

                              3. What kind of file sizes are we talking about? 64 times more info than current RAW doesn't sound too space friendly?

instead of making useless 108MP sensors, Samsung should go back to those 12-20 MP ones. That's what Sony has done and it has worked for them. Sure, software processing is lacking on those Xperias, but their results arent that far off
