Wonder why not all of the EU is onboard that euro 145 bill declaration to make chips itself. Missing are bulgaria, czechia, denmark, hungary, ireland, latvia, lithuania, luxembourg, poland, sweden.

SMIC is getting $500 billion investment from the Government, as part of $2.1 Trillion investment to start making Fabbing machinese themselves, as to get rid of ASML which uses American IP.

the thing is for the near future they are modifying existing ASML machinese with DUV to 7nm and 5nm machines.

Futhurmore to develop , their own themselves, these Gordon Chang crowd are skinning themselves and hoping china fails 😂😂😂

Samsung once owned ASML but sold it later. It's better to let another company concentrate on that part of the supply chain.

Anonymous, 23 Jan 2021They “were” dependant, now they are making their own Fabbin... moreWow, you really don't know much about this subject...SMIC is making chip fabbing plants for 7nm and 5nm by USING machines from ASML. They make the chips themselves but don't make the machines that are required to make the chips, so they're fully dependent on ASML to make the chips, which is also the case for all the other chip makers like TSMC (where Qualcomm, Apple, AMD chips get fabbed) , Intel & Samsung.
Since, market leaders like TSMC, Samsung and Intel can't make their own machines for chip fabrication, SMIC can't make their own machines for hell, atleast for the next 10 years..unless you have some magical source or report that says otherwise, then please share with us.
