Anonymous, 27 Jan 2021Made in Vietnam. Sounds cool. My S6 Edge still works fine.The device's quality depends on a contract manufacturer's expertise in producing the devices. For instance, take Foxconn, who manufactures everything for Apple and HP. It also depends on the quality of components used. Every OEM is capable of manufacturing quality, provided that they keep the above points in check.

There we have another company entering India. After Samsung and HP, we have the king Apple setting foot into India in a big way. Don't know where this is going to end. Only time can tell. But I don't see any advantage as a consumer because the prices are likely to remain the same.

They should just produce it in US. But they know, they wont be able to profit it much when they manufactured in their own birth land.

Remember,China not only assemble the iPhone,but also play a important role in APPLE's global supply chain.
The camera lens,the battry,some IC chipset,lots of components are made in China.
How long Apple will take to rebuild the entire supply chain in India? Assemble cost is just a small part.

Reading this news on GSMArena for last couple of years. Apple gets concessions from Govt of India under Make in India initiative. Also they impose 30% Import and Customs duty if the phone is imported. Apple don't pass the concession and on other hand add import duty to charge the same price. If Apple is not lowering the price of their phones, it does not really matter where the phone was actually made.

Anonymous, 28 Jan 2021We can only hope.China will ban Intel and AMD because they now have powerful RISC-V alternatives and X86 Zhaoxin CPU, and surely they will ban NVIDIA as they now have powerful Shanghai Tianshun Zhixin Data centre GPU, with Consumer GPUs coming soon.
So we can see Intel, AMD , NVIDIA and Windows being banned in China before 2035.

Just because china chose to exploit it's people for low dollar exports doesn't make them all that great.

This countrys needs to ask apple to sell iPhones at the same price as in USA market !

Good to know that you know word Economics
But mostly it's a about no import duty and tax benefit in terms of Product linked incentives (on indian manufactured products) which reduces the cost of phones dramatically. Generally imported iphones sell about 30 to 60 % higher than its US pricing. Indian manufactured models launch at 20 % higher cost but after few months or in sales that match to their US price.
