01 February 2021
Leaksters say it will have a 5nm chipset, so likely the Kirin 9000.

Well at least the screen is inside this time. no one wants a phone with a giant foldable screen on the outside.

It is only the second gen of foldable. Samsung is rumoured to reduce the thickness of its upcoming 3rd gen Z fold 3. Let's see...

I'm looking to forward to seeing Huawei's take on the inward folding phone. Maybe they found some way to get rid of the crease in the middle of the display.

So many trolls in Huawei threads. If you're not discussing the phone, please leave.

YUKI93, 01 Feb 2021Seems like even Huawei realized that outward-folding style ... moreThats the difference between Samsung and Huawei. Samsung intended the Fold to be an actual series for consumers and were practical in their approach, while Huawei's phone was mostly for show, focusing on flashiness.

YUKI93, 01 Feb 2021Seems like even Huawei realized that outward-folding style ... moreEnjoy your 18mm thick brick then.

I tried to use the Z fold 2 and it is simply too big. It is unusable to carry that brick around.

Mate Xs (never used it by I assume) is at least half that thickness. It looks like a phone when folded instead of a tablet that happened to be folded.

I agree the tech is not ready for outward folding screens, but at least you can use those devices with some care. The Z fold style phone is literally unusable. I mean maybe the Mate Xs goes for a year and then its screen gets trashed. The Z fold 2 can't go for a day because it is so very thick that it is not a phone anymore.

As bad as the outward folding screens are, they at least make usable devices. It is very sad if they indeed give up on the concept. It means that foldables will die (the inward design is a dead end).

Shady69, 01 Feb 2021sammy should've never put a selfie camera in the fold,... moreExactly what isaid long ago lol. Punch hole and notch on folding device is even more ridiculous than on regular phones

in-folding doesn't talk all that much about actual design ... it's time for device to be accidentally spotted on the train.

YUKI93, 01 Feb 2021Seems like even Huawei realized that outward-folding style ... moretest both first version of mate x and fold1
i will say,the mate x do look more better, more like a future phone
fold 1 is somehow looks stupid compare to mate x,like from 3-5 years ago.

Sounds like the CCP hackers have managed to found some more of Samsung’s blueprints.

YUKI93, 01 Feb 2021Seems like even Huawei realized that outward-folding style ... morePeople suddenly realised that inwards is the only way for a folding screen to fold. Huawei was being unnecessarily dismissive.

sammy should've never put a selfie camera in the fold, EVER.
since they provided an outer screen with a selfie camera they shouldn't have put one in the bigger screen at all, otherwise why ruin the outer screen with a hole punch?

Seems like even Huawei realized that outward-folding style is not really a good idea. When half of the screen also acts as part of the full unfolded screen, imagine what would happen when the phone is accidentally dropped.
