I only went with the Huawei specifically for its design and it's still been worth all the hoops I have to jump through to make it work in the US. All I feel is hate inside. I know I should not be admitting it, but that is how I feel, really...
The outward folding design was perfect, just perfect and now all is gone because trendy youtubers asked for its DEATH.
Now all we get is 20mm bricks instead of phones. I dreamt of a day that a Tablets would fold into phones. And Mate Xs was just that , merey a bit fragile. But they could always fix it.
But instead they replaced it with a BRICK. Foldable phones are dead. Now all we have is foldable bricks.
The pain is unbearable, really, the pain man!

Apparently 2021 is the year of the downgrade. S21 was a downgrade to S20 and now Mate X2 is a downgrade to Mate Xs.
Who cares about a slightly better cpu and camera. You could already do that last year and only be 5mm when unfolded. Now it is 60 % bigger for pretty much the same use case. Sheep will eat it and even laud it.
I blame popular youtubers for this trend. They supported inward folding design without thinking it through (what it would mean for usability/size if you were to add an extra -useless- screen + camera).

Lol why is there a pill hole camera? This aspect alone makes it worse than 1st generation mate x. I can handle the outward fold as I'm not a clumsy phone user who constantly drop my phone.
Again, notches/holes in foldables is even more ridiculous than notches/holes in regular smartphones

Mate X had 5.4 mm thickness when unfolded, while X2 has 8.2 mm thickness resulting to a crazy thick phone when folded and kept in pocket.

Sexiest looking foldable I've ever seen. I personally only used the Samsung Fold 1 and didn't really enjoy it, but is this global I would love to try it.

You are a tablet that folds, kewl, once folded you are an unusable brick though.
Having used Mate Xs no other design can work. Yet is easy to be harmed, but it is actually usable, not a mere proof of concept phone that is mostly unusable in its phone iteration...
Those thickos are really useless. People would never get into them for as long as the inwards folding remains en vogue. What a disastrous decision by Huawei.
