aReefer, 07 Feb 2021I think you may be confusing people by going metric here wh... moreThey are talking about dimensions, not screen size. The latter changes with aspect ratio as well....

I think you may be confusing people by going metric here when phone screens in your articles are listed in inches.
Anyway, 4.7 inches would be 'mini' in my book.

The 12 mini actually has a smaller (width wise) screen. Don't know about you but i prefer to scroll more and zoom in less. I'd say the SE is the best mini phone on the market right now, the S10e is the next best thing for people who use their phones with one hand most of the time. Being an android user, today i can't recommend a recent flagship phone (S10e being the last one) to anyone around me if they don't game on their phones or watch a lot of video content.
What happened to one hand use phones? Seems like they're going away with the ability to fix things independently of oems. So are the songs about smartphones and stupid people really becoming true?

Too small will kill my experience of viewing, too big left an unpleasant feels in your palm because its too wide.
Vanilla P40 that I currently use, 👌🏻perfect size for me (148.9 x 71.1 x 8.5 mm), while still being a flagship.
Not the smallest, but a modern compact smartphone for me, among the monstrous size flagship has nowadays.

Livius, 07 Feb 2021For me the minimum should be 6.1, what is under is basicall... moreYup 6.1 should be minimum for a smalls phones since they have long 20:9 ratio, for me anytime above 6.5 gets slightly uncomfortable, and I find 6.4 perfect for me.

I don't know why all the talk about "flagship". I want a not-large low to medium range phone. These don't exist either. If anything, lower end phones tend to be larger.

The 12 Mini is the right size for a compact iPhone. I just wish it had a bigger battery. Don't care if they made it 9mm thick. Would love to see other companies go for this size in 2021.

I think the Galaxy S10e got it right on terms of size and cramming as much hardware needed despite my flight disdain for the punch home.
That's why LG, before exiting the phone biz should consider a 6.0" V70 mini to be the successor to the above phone.

You don't consider the thickness in your poll, the obvious drawback of smaller phones is less space for the battery resulting in poorer stamina, I would be happy to have a phone about 10mm thick to accommodate a larger battery and have better battery performance as a result.
The Xperia XZ1 Compact seemed to achieve a good balance between small dimensions and performance.

Pixel 5 is the perfect mini size. iPhone 12 mini is too small.

For me the minimum should be 6.1, what is under is basically useless. A buddy of mine has SE2020 and to read an email he has to zoom many times. Netflix and YouTube is a nightmare.Damn, I would have sold it long time ago.

I don’t know about other people, but I like to do things on my phone, like read news, web browsing, watching movies. And is not really good to do those on a very small screen. I don’t like big screens either, but something around 6.0” is nice and also relatively compact too.
I have an ipad and a work laptop. I still find myself reaching for my phone more frequently.
5.5” and below that is just too small for my needs. And judging from the sales of the iphone 12 mini many people thought the same.

Its like asking what is your favorit color of a unicorn. The answer is irrelevant, there are no unicorn as the there are no compact phones. Yes there is i phone. Yet no phones.
