If someone has enough to buy Google's Pixel phone, they have enough to buy a 30 dollar smartband that does these things.

Revonox, 06 Feb 2021Or, you know, just measure your pulse and respiratory rate ... moreExactly. Smartphones and wearables are getting dumb features that you can actually measure without specialized equipment that slows down with updates and gets replaced with a new model every year. Smartphones and smart watches/wearables should focus more on features that require more skill, equipment and brains so their stupid high price and annual replacement can be justified. Heart rate and breathing monitoring are just plain stupid features.
How about high/low blood pressure monitoring and alerts for hypertensives, high/low blood sugar monitoring and alerts for diabetics, fever/elevated body temperature/infection alert, pollen/allergen alert, overeating alert, excessive alcohol intake alert and body odor and bad breath alert? I think they are 100% more useful and people would at least get their money's worth from those annually disposable smart watches/wearables/smartphones.

Or, you know, just measure your pulse and respiratory rate with the things you carry around all day, your fingers and your brain. The latter is debatable though.

Oopsie! We accidentally left your selfie camera on and measured your respiratory rate as you watched ads. Don't worry, we only provide your data to people who pay for it

They need to do what Samsung did a while ago and put a sensor in that does pulse ox, PI, and pulse. I don't know why the companies got away from it because their smart watches dont do pulse ox.
