I thin most of the 5G smartphones would use mid-range chipsets like Mediatek Dimensity 800 in them this year, Hoping a budget 5G smartphone soon.

The future M80 in Mediatek support 5 CA.
Regarding mmWAVE.
I really think this will be another WiMAX.
The reason.
It's not suitable in real life.
It can't penetrate Rain, Fog, Smoke, Snow.
It can't pass leaf / tree.
This might only work in very dense place such as stadium, convention hall.
Any carrier that bet on mmWave will be bleeding

X51 Modem on Snapdragon 480 has max 4g download rates up to 800Mb/s
Dimensity supports 5G carrier aggregation, only 888 is able to, 865 can't.
It's true there's no mmwave yet...but in most countries, we won't see mmwave networks until 3 or 4 Years.
Except some carriers in USA (not all, T-Mobile hasn't mmwave), Mediatek's Modem is more usefull than Qualcomm's (from 480 to 865)

come on, barely any phone in the 400$ range with 765 has wifi 6, let alone this entry level soc.

So, it's better modem vs. better CPU.

Different people may have different memories, but for me, the true "modern era" of smartphones started in mid-year 2018, with the mini Chinese smartphone "revolution". From that perspective, all phones before that point were merely "Medieval gadgets", and since that point, almost all smartphones of real sequences have been exclusively Chinese, with Samsung being the only non-Chinese phonemaker to play the catch-up.
The many smartphone "firsts" from the mid-year 2018 revolution:
1) Full frontal display:
- Pop-up camera: Vivo APEX (2018), Vivo NEX (2018);
- slider: Oppo Find X (2018), Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 (2018).
- Tear-drop: first used on many Chinese smartphones.
2) Under-the screen finger-print-sensor: Vivo NEX (2018), Oppo Find X (2018).
3) Mate 20 Pro introduced the first truly integrated multi-camera system in a smartphone.
4) Mate 20X, with its 7.2" screen, best camera system of 2018, powerful audio sub-system, was considered by many to be the best smartphone ever produced in the history of smartphone.
5) first dedicated AI co-processor was introduced in a smartphone SoC: Kirin970.
(There were many offshoots from this mini revolution that we need not dwell here.)

The time has come that we should change the naming convention for smartphones by dropping the "5G" suffix. All 2021 smartphones of any consequences will be 5G by default. For those few legacy 4G phones that are still being produced, we can add "4G" suffix.
Let us welcome the arrival of "5G only" smartphone world.

Oh ofc 5G will increase..maybe because they are forcing it into everybody's phone..even those who dont even use data and would prefer wifi anyday..anytime over data signals🙂

While 2013 might be the best year of smartphones because 2014 was more evolutionary, I think 2016 is my favorite class because I owned several from it.

I owned the G5, Pixel, S7e, V20, and SE. Owned HTC 10 for only a day. I still have my G5 and bought another SE. The last year to still give us metal backs and headphone jacks except the iPhone 7 series.
