The sensor is a 8.7-megapixels, but Nokia promises that PureView is muchmore than just the megapixels and explained that it has built inits “floating lens” technology.
Floating lens takes hardware image stabilization to new heights and that’s exactly what Nokia was showing that early video of a girl riding a bicycle (you can check it out once again below). That image stabilization will be also of benefitwhen you take pictures, but it seems best suitedfor capturing smooth video.
"The shutter has to stay open longer...those fewextra tenths of a second...exposes the shutter to theminute movements in your hand that causes blur in the images,"

Anonymous, 05 Sep 2012I guess Samsung ativ has much better features... Nokia has ... moreYou don't have to take it personally though... I said “people who will prefer WP8 WOULD choose to go with Samsung Ativ rather than Lumia" and it's not WILL choose... Another thing, “it’s undoubtedly a personal fondness but this one is disappointing and below par” and what I mean to say is which device goes in consumers hand depends upon that consumer and their needs… I’m talking about specs and looks as well… this isn’t something different Nokia has offered! I’m disappointed doesn’t mean other will too be dissatisfied. It’s a matter of personal preference! However, right now I’m looking forward for Note 2 and have SGS3, and to be very honest, they outperform other platforms or manufactures, not just in terms of specs, but moreover in performance… it’s all about what you want your phone to do and how you want those things to happen… Nokia used be the KING, they are still hardware Gods but what’s inside is what matters for me pal!

Well, I was seriously considering a windows phone but this doesnt impress me one bit.

I was hoping for a quad core krait and a real pure view camera. Pure view camera without oversampling just doesn't have amy huge advantages over regular cameras. It will probably be bettr but not the revalatjon thag was he 42mp sensor.

And no SD storage? Not acceptible. I've been buying CDs and DVDs forfor years and I need more dlace than that.

Dual core kraits have been Round a while now. Same performance as quad core a9...quad core kraut would have pushed it into something special.

I've been getting annoyed with android lagfor a while now but jellybean definitely fixes most of that.

I'm not about to give myself to a a more closed ecosystem yet for the benefits thag don't auite add up to me.

Think I'll wait for the next nexus phone...

Only good news is that they were smart enough to get rid of that ridiculous 41 mp sensor with which no lens can match up.
That floating lens stuff is nothing revolutionary and won't reduce the motion blur of the objects in the picture.
