Never.

Didn't Mrwhosetheboss expose that the "global" S21 Ultra got up to 68 DEGREES CELSIUS (154 Farenheits) after a fifth run of Antutu 8 but the "USA Only" S21 Ultra remained at 43 degrees?

A few important clarifying notes for the video:

      1. I'm told that Antutu readings of temps are not accurate, so next time I'll use a different app, but equally, Exynos is definitely hotter so the point still stands.

      2. For the photo samples, scene optimiser was on for both phones (there was one shot of the screens where it looked like it was off on one of them, but for the photos themselves it was 100% on for both)

      3. Having now seen some other tests of these two online, there is a large variance of results. Some people find Snapdragon mostly ahead, some people find Exynos slightly ahead. I can only report on my findings, and I have rechecked since this test, with similar results, but I think given the variation we see, the main takeaway should be, to not dismiss the Samsung phone's this year just based on them having Exynos Chips. While they may not be as good as the Snapdragons, they are a definite improvement over last year.

AnonD-973296, 08 Feb 2021Exynos has massively improved, both these chipsets are neck... moreYes, but the difference between SD and Exynos is actually still quite big.

BozaBoza, 08 Feb 2021The above is not true according to a known you tube reviewe... moreAlso Gary Explains (a reputable Youtuber with programming skills) also explains the throttling comparison.

Yes, Antutu is to be taken with a pinch of salt but assuming the Exynos throttles somewhat in either benchmarks, then we can be sure that the problem has not been fixed entirely.

Samsung probably restrains the Snapdragon version. Not the first time if true.

The above is not true according to a known you tube reviewer. The Snapdragon is way better than the Exynos.

Anonymous, 08 Feb 2021I do not know why people give so much importance to benchma... moreAs usual people who can't understand the use of benchmarks typically then ask for benchmarks (you want measures for temperatures etc)

                  LOL the irony

As for the argument of "benchmark cheating" based on simple rules of relativity if everyone is cheating on benchmarks then no one is cheating as that behavior becomes STANDARDIZED

And with a standard we can compare more predictively

Even if antutu is "unreliable" it always gives us a point of reference a ballpark per say if what we can expect

Somehow I do trust him more than this gsmarena comparision. I mean they did fair, but not all marks checked, so it places exynos in better point of view (and I think this on purpose).
Just see the video and share your thoughts.

I do not know why people give so much importance to benchmarks.

Antutu is the worse because we all know many chinese phones have software to boost the score. They have all been caught already. I am glad oneplus no longer does it.

Would be nice to have info on stuff like :

                      - how much power used for same tasks
                      - temperature during charging and apps execution
                      - frames achieved for popular games, to see the impact of temperature on performance.

[deleted post]I think GsmA didn’t test sustained performance which is the deciding factor 😀 but honestly I owned a S20 FE 5G with SD865 and its sustained performance is average anyway. Runs hot in some games quickly.

Would be great if you run the benchmark multiple times instead of once to see which one throttles first.

While I do take some MrWhoseTheBoss’s videos with a pinch of salt (and the benchmark itself), he was able to demonstrate the thermal throttling in the two versions of the S21 Ultra. The Exynos one lost some 30-40% score with under 500k after 5 runs. It couldn’t even run the emulated game smoothly.

Gary Sims with the Speed Test G benchmark also shown that while the Exynos didn’t throttle too much except for one run, the score of the test was already worse with about 90 seconds for the first run. The SD did it about 80 seconds.

I have also heard few users with the Exynos version complain about the phone overheating while recording at 8K 30fps. I have seen one or two owners in a Facebook Samsung official fanpage.

Maybe the throttling will get fixed as if the Mi 11 also has a throttling issue. iPhone 12 did had an issue but got fixed with excellent sustained performance (or efficiency) and better camera performance. Less than 5% throttling in Speed Test G compared to iPhone 11 Pro Max with 15% throttling.
