OnePlus 8 series gets January security patch and bug fixes with latest OxygenOS updates

Just got a "new" 8 Pro with wireless earbuds for a very fair price for the features and expected remaining lifespan. Because they hid a second discount so well on their store page and because their customer support could not apply the still-active discount to my purchase, I had to re-order and return the first phone unopened. Idiotic, customer-hostile marketing and policy. I'll be watching OnePlus closely in the next couple of years. My 6T is going to my wife (who is considerably harder on phones - good luck, little 6T). Will it ever get the Android 11 update? Will "monthly" patching continue to deteriorate? Companies have ups and downs, and I'm hoping OnePlus is just having a temporary down with their support. Overall I've been very pleased with my 6T, but as a cyber security professional, I know the value of security patches and not falling too far behind on the latest major versions. If there is not an upswing with timely and long-term support, much of the overall value of OnePlus phones will be lost and I may have to transition to Samsung or Apple (great hardware, great long-term software updates, good software, so-so overall value, horrible company).

It doesn't make someone's phone more secure as companies try to market it.

Oneplus lost the touch,... moreAnd they also want in xiaomi useless ip68 and useless QUAD curves and ueselss quad hd and useless 108mpx while they can use a normal midrange 12mpx or 48mpx sensors while focusing in the display, performance and charging bcuz most of people don't care about 125 points in dxomark VS 113 points in the 2019 mi 9 for example they all take good photos

that's why I always prefer xiaomi and their updates wich are faster than oneplus and most companies
Yes I got 1-1-2021 security update in africa so not to say in china or india or europe where they get everything very fast
While oneplus will send it to a small limited number of users

OnePlus started becoming Oppo when they downgraded the OnePlus 7 to upsell the 7 Pro. The worsening software support is the next sign. OnePlus broke their brand promises (all phones get 3 OS updated, all phones will be 90Hz or above) so don't be loyal to a brand that isn't loyal to you anymore.

Chinese phones..enough said.
Is like Dacia, everybody is praising it and everybody is buying it, but deep down inside everybody knows is a sh*t car, good only because is cheap. Same with Chinese phones.
And yes, I had Chinese phones from Xiaomi, Realme and One Plus. No more Chinese phones for me that’s for sure. Ever.
Good luck with your garb*ge devices. You will need it. Lol.

While others are on February patch. Oneplus lost the touch, because of you kids who whine about ip rating, camera, wireless charging and instinct jack.! Price is like Samsung and apple, Thx to you. They can't focus on the performance and stability, because you want all the newest useless features. Thx.

3 months later they give a security update with no real big fixes. How low has Oneplus fallen. Pretty sad.
