Leak: the Redmi K40 Pro will have the Snapdragon 888, the vanilla K40 gets the 870

09 February 2021
Both will have the same screen and similar cameras, but the Pro has a few advantages beyond the chipset.

That's basically a phablet but i love it! I use to own the mi max 2 and always wanted a xiaomi phablet but with flagship level specs like my k20 pro and at 3000 Chinese yuan that's around $465 that's a steal I'm definitely going for it.

    These things are HUGE!

ABC, 10 Feb 2021SD card is slow in speed. It's time to drop the SD car... moreSD card speed is adequate for a lot of uses. (Storing photos, videos...etc.)

You aren't using it to run the OS or apps, so it has no bearing on how responsive your phone is. Bigger storage on a phone is also no replacement for the ability to use sneakernet with SD cards.

ABC, 10 Feb 2021SD card is slow in speed. It's time to drop the SD car... moreThat's a stupid argument, literally most uses of an SD card don't even rely on speed.
From easy transfers of MASS storage, fail-safe if files you can keep if the phone die, taking pictures for someone else, etc.

MAINLY NOW that portless devices are closer than ever.

ABC, 10 Feb 2021SD card is slow in speed. It's time to drop the SD car... moreNot exactly an Apple fan, but until Android can provide a way to have perfect iPhone-like 1:1 backup/restore solution regardless phone model/maker, I'll get a phone with an SD card slot anytime. No matter what kind of protection your phone has, once it's dead there's no way to get any data off it. If it has SD card, at least some data will be recoverable. Also, as the previous comment mentioned, offline data backup realibility independent from internet connection is a plus.

RealLifePhones, 10 Feb 2021The 5MP is probably a macro cam because Xiaomi tends to cal... moreSo far only the Poco F2 Pro, K30 Pro and K30 Ultra have one, which has a 5Mp sensor with a Macro lens with a 2x magnification, effectively making it both a Macro (made for ultra short focus distances) and a Telephoto, which is called a Tele-Macro.

Having a magnification on a Macro allow to either take the same shot a non-magnified Macro would do but from a longer distance, or to get more details/making the subject appear bigger, hence why it is the Telephoto who should have a Macro mode rather than the Ultra-Wide.

Andreidinutu, 10 Feb 2021There aren't any 2mp lens, and as always, unless it... moreThe two screenshots of the Vanilla and the Pro respectively say :
                    108MP+8MP+5MP+2MP.
                    108MP+13MP+5MP+2MP.

For regular users who just take pictures of their food or a duckface selfie indeed 5Mp is enough, but for photography enthusiasts it isn't.
There isn't any reasons to put any sensors under 12Mp which have been the industry standard in photography for a while now.
And 12Mp is mostly for the Wide/Main, an Ultra-Wide because of the bigger field of view, which mean less pixels per degrees, ideally could use a higher resolution, same for the Telephoto that can get the advantage of cropping without too much loss to push a little further past the optical zoom and still maintaining a good quality.
12Mp sensors are extraordinarily cheap for good quality models (not Flagship levels of course, but still quite respectable, the Meizu 16 both 12Mp and 20Mp that come together can be found for 10$), there wouldn't be noticeable price change to the phone if all sensors were AT LEAST 12Mp, but the quality difference would be big.

Anonymous, 10 Feb 2021Mi11 has HM2 as well. Mi 11 has HMX sensor. Get your facts right.
                      HM2 is a 1/1.5" sensor.

Customers complaining about Mi 11 being pricey for 800€ in Europe can now buy this which is pretty much the same phone.

As long as the official specs say all the sweetest numbers and names their customers will be satisfied. It's really hard to explain them that having a 108 whatever sensor doesn't mean the phone will take good pictures nor it means that 888 will bring any benefits if not utilized right or that the screen will be good just because it's the same panel used on more expensive device (its probably quality control leftover scooped up off the line so Xiaomi doesn't have to trash any)
