I think they are just too lazy to adopt the keyboard layout for the eu market.

unfortunately samsung rep told me it will not be available in eu even though it would work here just fine, no qwerty slider android phones in eu..:( how sad it means importing them from usa, jailbreaking them, rooting them etc...

And yet again one has to ask - why is it thaty Americans can bask in QWERTY phones, while the whole Europe is left to drool...?

Unfortunately the screen resolution is a lot different from when it was first rumoured..
WVGA is nothing compared to the 1280x720 displays..
Even QHD would be an improvement.

Anonymous, 06 Sep 2012Will it work in UK?Yes it will work, but with caveats:
For voice and texts, the phone is a quad band 2G GSM - so it will work close enough to world wide for calls, and 1700/2100Mhz 3G bands for data (UK uses 2100 and 900 - meaning everyone but 3 is a viable choice of network). Of course, the phone would have to be unlocked (which will cost money) and you're going to be slapped with import charges when it gets here (20% VAT and handling).

Indeed, the phones with sliding qwerty keyboards are mostly extinct in Europe, and that's unfortunate, but there are still quite a few models exclusive to US.

Here's hoping it sees a European / Worldwide release. It looks like it'll be a fantastic device.
