iPhone 12 mini is actually the best phone for those who want small size phones. But it's price is not. With base $ price along with currency exchange rate and customs / import / excise duties, for rest of the world, iPhone 12 mini costs more than iPhone 11 regular. For every additional storage capacity, the price increases by another $100-$150. They have already removed all the accessories from the box which we have to buy separately while buying a new phone. They should have price iPhone 12 mini at least $100 less than existing price.

I want a cheap small phone with big battery. Redmi 4 Prime was a 5 inch 4100mah 200$ phone. iPhone 12 mini is failing because it's 2000mah 700$

MK13, 14 Feb 2021Not apparent in sales numbers?? Maybe that's because n... moreConsumers in general prefer large phones...thats the only reason
        1)big screen
        2)big battery
3)multiple cameras ,prefer more...quad cam atm...general consumers think more is better...
        4)after sale service
These are the basis on which most consumers buy

For me, like it was posted above, a phone under 162mm in hight, 75mm width and less than 190gr is fantastic.

Those who want small phones also want affordable phones so iPhone 12 Mini is not a good example allthough it is at the moment the only compact phone in the market, which is absurd.

The problem is that you think you don't want a 'large' phone untill you actually start to use one. It doesn't take long to get used to manoeuvring a 6.5+ inch phone and after that the thought of watching things like YouTube or typing or split screening on a small screen is just not appealing anymore. It feels like you are losing something by going back to a small screen and most phones now have one handed modes so you can still use big phones in one hand. There will always be a few people who will buy them but like the article says it won't be enough for manufacturers to build them in large numbers. Maybe a way companies can test the waters is to make a limited number of small phones and see how many they sell? Maybe folding phones are the answer when they become more mainstream?

Not apparent in sales numbers?? Maybe that's because number of small models with mid/high end specs is ridiculously small, didn't that cross your mind? I want a small phone but without the cheap slow crap inside, those few models that are available do not appeal to me, and never iphone

It's not apparent because for years everyone was just making them bigger. And it came to a point even crappy 150€ phones have a massive 7" display and guess who buys most of those. India, because their whole lives online are through phones. They also have large population so numbers quickly get skewed. Same with China. And they are two worlds largest countries accounting for almost what, 1/3 of worlds population together?. And frankly, it's not any different elsewhere. Being forced into buying large phone for years because there aren't any smaller just makes you get used to it. I had 3,3" Samsung Wave and I thought it was perfectly big. Now I'm on 6,1" iPhone XR and it's like whatever, it is what it is. I say I wouldn't want a bigger phone, but we all know with time, the "regular" iPhone will eventually become the size of Pro Max. And Pro Max will be a freaking tablet by that time. Same will happen with Galaxy S Ultra and all the other brands. In a way I hate the future that awaits us because iPhone XR is already borderline unusable with one hand. And I have big hands. Anything bigger will actually be unusable with one hand and phones should never even come to that point.

Haha these people represent only a portion online tech enthusiastic. Or someone with Lilliput hands.

Whackcar, 14 Feb 2021Actually, only a minority of users want small phones. The w... moreYeah, since gsmarena is an tech savvy or tech nerds community, not general consumers community . Tech people is only 25% of the whole smartphone sales, 50% goes to general consumers, and 25% left is business/creativity/productivity

                          My typical phone size :

                          Height : Less than 160mm
                          Width : Less than 75mm
                          Thickness : Less than 8.4mm
Weight : Less than 190 grams
Curved on front, back, thick frame, flat frames on top and bottom
Material : Plastic matte back, gorilla glass victus/creramic shield front

Actually, only a minority of users want small phones. The wide majority prefer large phones. That is why large phones sell in huge quantities.

Needless to say, but forum polls aren't the most accurate representation of real-world opinions.
