14 February 2021
Previously, each manufacturer used a proprietary connector, created needless headaches. The U in USB stands for "universal".

kek, 14 Feb 2021Jokes on you, but I'll take a microusb port any day ov... moreThe funny part is that Type C ports get damaged easily if you wiggle the connector while microUSB manages that with lesser issues.
No wonder why type C is the windows 10 of ports. So versatile, yet so many flaws since the beginning

The Apple M1 actually suppport USB 4 and Thunderbolt, but it doesn’t support any external GPU for now.

As far as I can remember, the first popular phone with mini USB was the Motorola RAZR, and the first with micro USB was the RAZR 2. I remember how much I used the mini USB on my Motorola V360, after all the years of proprietary connectors and special PC software, finally something that had mass storage and required a cheap cable available anywhere. What a breakthrough!

Lumia 950/950 XL also used Type-C in that same year. And there was also Apple pushing it around the same time

Jokes on you, but I'll take a microusb port any day over Type-C.

At least I know what a microusb voltage and standards are, and what to expect from it. Type-C is a mess, and I dont know if calling it "revolutionary" fits its description. Also, cleaning a Type-C port is more difficult and risky than a micro usb one. So, sorry for those folks who cant remember how to plug a cable.

Since Apple is going full speed with ARM processors why is there a need even for Thunderbolt??

For me, it was the USB-C port where Intel's Thunderbolt port really come to fruition. When I saw an external GPU with Thunderbolt 3 alongside a docking station in action, that really is the ultimate 'one cable for all' solution.

But whereas the USB-C port on the OnePlus 2 is v2.0, both Microsoft and Acer went a step ahead with the USB-C v3.1 on the Lumia 950 or 950 XL and Liquid Jade Primo respectively of which they were also launched in 2015.
