The Pro launched last year at €500, this one is a smaller, cheaper version. Both are primarily aimed at businesses rather than consumers.

Well as long as they figure out a better, non Exynos 9611 (I'm fine with newer Exynos) something 5G AND a 7000mAh batt to match the rugged aspect for the next Xcover Pro then we're good.

From the get go I've always felt like Samsung's Xcover line as their still ongoing missed opportunity for some better numbers there.

Might as well get a solid budget device and put one of those solid metal cases on, unless you really need those special cameras like infrared.

XCover Pro has some cons like you can't use the top and X-key when the display is off. You have to wake up the display and then use those keys. This can be solved by simple software update. I have e-mailed them about this but they didn't bring the feature in One UI 3. After One UI 3.0 XCover Pro's camera got improved. And got more control in power usage of apps.

A consumer version without the ip rating for around ₹10k would sell good in towns and cities alike.

Cheapest alternative is any mid range flagship with outdoor ipxx case.
