I am actually considering switching to Sony since LG has exited the smartphone market, since I've used many phones including Samsung and Sony. I'm just surprised the hate Sony gets in GSMArena.

So it's not the size, it's how Sony uses it. And Sony does it well, good hardware and clean OS.

I miss Sony here in India. Posting my comments using a 3.5 year old perfectly working(only battery has started to show the age) Xperia R1. Those who have used any Xperia still love the clean bloatware free interface, natural photoes which are not oversaturated and of course the awesome sound via the headphone jack.
No offense to anyone but life would have been easier while choosing the next phone in numerous VIvo/Oppo/Poco/MI/Realme and to some extent Samsung!

Let's assume it's 1000 $ converted into LEV (BGN currency) is 1600 (which is 974 leva on top).... HOWEVER being in Europe automatically raises the value of a product ( taxes, customs bla bla n so on) thus this phone is 2600leva - which is 600$ on top of its initial price. (and sometimes EVEN MORE) !!!
If I order a laptop from Murica let's say for 1200$, here in Europe ( be it UK or Bulgaria) might cost 3 times the manufacturers price!
Let's say after being taxed at the customs 1200$ (250$ after taxes) = 2355leva, HOWEVER if you buy it from a store or a brand provider ooh well double the price let's say minimum 4000lv to above 5000lv.
So ordering from Murica is far better money wise !!

Don't be a bad fanboy. Sure you can't expect it to sell with top tier specifications at this price, without some compromises.

I run a phone shop company in my country and we sell like 50 different phone brands including Sony.
When i look at the warrantry claims i can honestly say even the low end Realme or Xiaomi or Huawei is equal or better in durability than low end Sony such as L4 model.
So paying 100 or 200 more bucks for having same device in specs with a Sony logo on it doesnt makes any sense.
If for example Lenovo K10 note 6/128GB for 150 bucks can last 3 years then why i should buy Sony L4 for same price with much worse specs which would last not longer than 2-3 years.
Logo of Sony company is very expensive same goes for Apple, LG, Samsung, Google and several other brands.

Those guys make phones for students and first time phone buyers, whereas Sony makes phones for people who understand what they need in a phone.

By contrast, Sony builds it all by themselves so the build quality is guaranteed to be Sony's standard. I'd rather pay for a long-lasting phone instead of a phone that will stop working in a short span of time. Spec sheets aren't everything.

What you call sh¡tty ui is actually more feature rich than Sony has been in a decade.
Ads can be disabled in 2 minutes through settings menu. But you will keep repeating it as if it is a con.
Budget Chinese phones do have headphone jack and micro SD card. Poco F2 pro has headphone jack despite being a flagship and costs same as Xperia 10 II.
Are you telling me Sony with Snapdragon 665 with some fantasy optimization is going to beat Snapdragon 865?
Build quality on these Chinese phones is top notch, on par with other brands.
Only you alone think, people have to replace these devices every six months, the actual users have been using them for 2-3 years without issues. You just have to look at these devices through a lens of non hatred.
