As i have said before i work with phones daily and all the high end smartphones do most of the same things that 95% of the population use them for which is calls texts music apps and internet. so no one cares about patents honestly the amount of customers whos say they don't care they either buy Samsung because of the brand and their cheap or iPhone for the brand or they already have apple stuff. no one cares. however apple need to stop trying to sue their competition out of the market and yes (this comes form a s3 owner) Samsung could have been more innovative with design in their OLDER models. End of the day their isn't much room to innovate anyway.

Toshiba pays millions every in patents. Either way Samsung wins.
Besides it is us the consumers that will suffer the most if this war keeps on. The fact that Apple is so afraid to compete with product and technology rather than in the courts is something to think about..

This would change the new iPhone in terms of durability, performance, and size (since the new chips should have a different design). Since the chips are new, this change could be for the good (if the new manufacturer have quality chips) or for the bad (if the new manufacturer only cares for profit and produce low quality chips). It could even affect the new iPhone price (since another manufacturer will have different pricing).

Dazz, 07 Sep 2012It's biggest customer is the Military where cost is no obje... moreTrue to an extent. but why did Apple take this decision to cut short? surely, Apple will face a crunch in their supply of quality chips, at least intially.
I reckon Apple has no plans to release a new device any sooner(after iph5). Or may release an experimental device to have user feedback about the chips from its new suppliers.

Anonymous, 07 Sep 2012WE STRONGLY feel that asian tech coz must stop all producti... moreYou do know that Apple's biggest chip supplier was Samsung's plant located in Austin, TX before this right? Now they will start, indeed, to hire third parties who use "cheap Asian labor" to build their chipsets. If AXX chips were once synonimous with quality, that's about to be put to question.

Apple seems to be gearing up for a War.
The market stake allows them to push a component manufacturer as they seem fit.
Any other secondary component manufacturer would be more than willing for this.(who knows they could even buy a component manufacturer for a few billion dollars , they have a lot to spare)
I don't agree with it but it is the way it is.

Anonymous, 07 Sep 2012It's really funny when you guys use selective arguments. ... morewe're talking about 2 different kind of buyers. You and I can be dumb to buy and debate about Apple and Samsung, but that is not the case on billion $ corporations, believe me they have the math right to the 7th decimal they know who is the best.

Anyway guys, going to bed. No hard feelings, nothing personal.
Also, think of today, we have SGS3, Lumia 920, Xperia TX, iPhone 5. Incredible phones from different companies, different philosophies, but if I got any one of these as a birthday gift, I would be very happy indeed. We are lucky to be able to experience such great tech, compared to just 5-6 years ago.

The real worl... moreIt's really funny when you guys use selective arguments.
Ok let's go with your argument, Samsung owns 80% market for a reason, they must be good right?
The iPhone is one of the best selling phones and the iPhone model is one of the highest selling phones. By your logic shouldn't that also be for a reason, and that it is very good too? Of course not! Suddenly it's all about how buyers are dumb, etc etc right? Ok I've heard this one before too.

Let's wait and see..
