As supply of Snapdragon 835 chips runs out, the F(x)Tec Pro1-X will switch to the Snapdragon 662

17 February 2021
The switch to a new chipset has pushed back the estimated shipping date, but it has also brought along some upgrades (and some downgrades).

YUKI93, 17 Feb 2021SD 600 series phone is entry-level? D*mn, I'm so old. ... morethere hardly are any SD4xx series around anymore and the 6xx series phone prices are already so low that they are pretty much entry level. Think of the mass of the 625 and 660 in pretty much every phone for few years

they could've went with a SD 720G/730G or the SD732, honestly the 662 is a big let down. Literally any 700 series from SD would have done.

Less functionality for the same, or more, money.
This should be a SD735 device to be comparable - no manufacturer should be downgrading a product and passing it off as an upgrade.

Most people hear being disappointed by the spec change were never even gonna buy this in the first place

                Joke of the year.

The S662 is by all means doungrade to the S835, they actually use same core's A73 and A53 the GPU on 835 is 2x the size and unit to the one on S662 which by the way is rebranded Adreno 510 and it's build on wors manufacturing process 11 nm (14 nm UHD) vs 10 nm. If I whose a backuper I would want my money back.

YUKI93, 17 Feb 2021SD 600 series phone is entry-level? D*mn, I'm so old. ... moreYeah, SD600 is the new 400 series, cause they introduced the 700 so now you can say SD400 is low low entry, SD600 low to mid, 700 is mid range and 800 high end.

Thats what is about those days and isnt wrong. Since qualcomm put an end to SD200 series.

Woohoo, 17 Feb 2021I'm not sure how well mtk dim. would play with ubuntu ... moreCome to think about it, Planet Computers only use MTK chipsets for their phones and they can run Linux OS. That's not a bad idea after all since I do want to see the Astro Slide 5G Transformer running on Ubuntu Touch since that upcoming phone will have Linux OS support as well.

Shady69, 17 Feb 2021somewhat entry level specs for god knows how much the price.SD 600 series phone is entry-level? D*mn, I'm so old. Phones with SD 400 series chipset are the entry-level ones.

It's a real bummer to see the chipset downgrade, especially for a phone that used to be powered by an SD 800 series chipset. At the very least, an SD 720G or even an SD 730G chipset is still a viable choice since F(x)tec Pro isn't thinking of 5G for now (which isn't a bad thing since 5G network is still not widely adopted). But nevertheless, the inclusion of WiFi 6, BT 5.1, and a brand new Sony camera sensor is a welcome upgrade. I could hope for a built-in Desktop Mode, but it's rather unlikely for a phone with SD 662 chipset.

somewhat entry level specs for god knows how much the price.
