So does Texas just not know how to operate them? Or, more likely, are you just grossly misinformed?

enjoy those frozen windmills. idiots switched too much percentage to the wind farms, now they are frozen and people are stranded in cold freezing weather.

There are too many things that affect our climate that we have no clue about yet but we think that we are already so advanced that we know that humans are causing the global warming and so on. Seriously like our planet is millions of years old and have had several ice ages. Climate is changing all the time and we need to just adjust to it as we are on here on the ride only. Global warming have been from the time the ice age ended and started the era of warming and it will last as long as next phase of global cooling starts

Texas fossil fueled natural gas plants can not handle this cold weather they can not produce any electricity at all when it is this cold! Fossil fuels, and methane burping cows, created the global climate disasters, and Texans love fossil fuels and eating cows more than anyone else in the world!

Anonymous, 18 Feb 2021I'm going to stop you at "Wind turbines froze.&qu... moreYeah, Canadian cars are built to a higher standard that's for sure. A little extra insurance is a thing called a block heater that for some r-tarded reason is not standard on cars sold in Canada. They make a world of difference. Couple that with a battery blanket and you're golden.

I'll stop you right there and let you know that the weather in central Canada has been ridiculous. Extreme changes one day to the next. Not -25 > 5 but not far off.

And I don't think it's the cold air that's causing the power outage but rather the build of ice / snow on the power lines which causes them to fail. Happens where I live a couple of times once the cold weather moves out and the higher moisture levels weigh down the lines.

Prototype, 17 Feb 2021This is a lesson for them, instal solar panels and batterys... moreSolar is an ok backup for a personal residence for the essentials but I would imagine the plot of land required to gather enough solar energy would be double the size of the actual plant's footprint.
Also, the cost to maintain said system is very very costly. Everything has a life span and I believe batteries for these systems are 6 - 8 years and the solar panels themselves are 10 years +/-. Not really worth it as a backup.

                              An excuse to raise prices.
