But not as a hologram, but as a direct projection into the eyes, and it is way closer than you might image, it is called "Virtual Retinal Display", not the Glasses version but the desk one, and it is part of the screenless display market that is extremely fast growing that many ignore about.

Why do something when it’s not even half as good as the tech it’s supposed to replace just for cosmetic purposes?? Is being called the first much more important than being called the best?? I thought Android fanboys and OEMs were supposed to have higher IQs 🤦🏽♂️

It is great. Selfies are useless for anything other than the occational video call. If they were to include none even better, including that can be hardly seen is the second best thing.
Of course ideally it could not be seen at all and -too- allow decent video calls. But yeah, we are one step closer to that ... Finally.
Pesky selfie cams disallowed us to have all screen phones for years. All for teen girls to opretend that they are fashion idols, bleh. Selfies should have long been optional. And if they can't at least fricking hide them. They are distracting and ugly. Peace.

Also, I love the stupidity of "there is X problem that we can't fix, so we will also ignore Y problem because it is smaller".
It is as logic as not stopping a bleeding because you were poisoned, and since you can't do anything about the poisoning, you simply let that bleeding be.
That's how stupid this is.
Front facing camera, regardless the brand still expose users to many privacy related issues, one problem fixed is still one problem fixed.

Led notifications are either gone or too small because there is no space. The ambient sensors are compromised because there is no space. Why are we doing this bezel-less thing again?!
btw. there is something eerily disturbing about having a hidden camera that you can't see pointing at you all the time. I know most people don't cover their smartphone cameras anyway, but... Am I the only one who finds this technology repulsive?
