If CD quality is the benchmark, why aren’t we going back?

Anyhow, my point was that if Spotify could get, say, SACD quality, it would have been able to serve the needs of the audiophile crowd, who currently have to hunt for SACD or Vinyl pressings. For the general.public listening on phones, good bitrate MP3 / AAC is adequate anyway.

If they are labeling a service 'hi-fi', it is fair to suggest that they should have gone for gold, instead of just CD quality.

              "select markets"
I can't find info about select markets, but something tells me it will be the usual "USA + Canada" mix. Which I am not a part of, sadly. Oh well, I'm not paying Spotify anyways.

I do not really use Spotify even through I have it shared via family account with my bro, but we certainly need more high-res options on the market.
                So go Spotify, go!

Definitely would love to try this on my LG V50 with its Quad DAC since I have been a long time Spotify user since 2015. Yet more reason for me not to go wireless again.

I think there should be a service that at least offers downloadable, editable files...
Earlier, Flipkart used to have such a service, it was just mp3 though, but God knows why they just shut down.

Streaming is ok, but offline music is cool.

Sounds awesome, I wish Spotify would launch Spotify HiFi in India. It'll be a superhit

It probably wouldn't go above 24bit 48khz because most androids resample it to that. Higher bitrate would be nice though.

Oops, I missed that it will be in 16bit/44.1KHz only.

CD quality streaming in lossless is enough at least for most audio enthusiast. Let alone the vinyl users as they have their own world (including my dad). Sadly, most bluetooth earphone users will not really feel the difference.

Ideally, they should have picked a source with a higher sampling rate, instead of CD quality. But good development, I guess.

It's about time. Took them long enough.

If they know better, it better be 24-bit minimum.

Too bad Bluetooth compresses audio, where as a headphone jack does not. Better quality through the built-in DAC on a LG with a headphone jack than Bluetooth.

Lowkey. I have a Hifi system sitting in my room that I barely use 😆

about time. i switched to deezer hifi 10 months ago because it was the only music streaming service that offers hi-fi here in the philippines.
