i think nokia has come up with drop-dead feature rich smartphones, but they just suck on deciding when to release the phone. this phone is awesome, even though it has a really stupid name. i really hope symbian would create new programs or probably a totally new interface so people wont miss the convenience of windows-mobile in a full touch device. but symbian really does gives you easy usage. i still think this phone fails, even though im a total nokia fan. the plastic body, and the (probably) plastic screen needs to be replaced with classier material, and the screen simply needs multi-touch interface with finger typing, not to mention 3d effects. apple's iphone excels ahead of the tube in all these, but they simply suck in features and personalization. i just hope nokia would fix this in their flagship model coming shortly afterwards the tube.

better late than never.. Don't understand though, why Nokia is comparing their phone to iphone.. Apple makes toys, Nokia makes Multimedia Devices. Apple vs lego I might even understand..

Only a Sony Ericsson user can know how to hate Nokia.. its obvious.. others will most likely prefer Nokia over other brands.. after all Nokia is a mass market brand and hence the largest producer.. SE is way more exclusive and classy and needless to say, much better than Nokia.. and I must say that its disgraceful and pathetic that a huge brand like Nokia has been copying various models from several brands for quite some time.

"Nokia Tube is expected to hit the market at the 1Q 2009."
LOL. So far away....
"Sony Ericsson P5 is expected to be officially announced until the end of next month. The release date is supposed to be only 4 months later - some time in September."
Much better! =)

I'm not a fan of touchscreen based phones. But I really dislike apple and all their itoys [iphone, ipod, then itouch myself] group. So I really hope this is a succesful Nokia product that can be called the iphone killer.

its not even a n95 killer its just a pile on container and a stylus. its not even near the iphone not to talk about the p1 from SE. they should stick to their usual symbian phones and not try to mimic. and i think they are running out of ideas. watch out for SE new gen phones. and they also forget about the ngage series what a shame.

Very sad attempt by nokia to duplicate iphone, I think nokia should stick to making their own model of cell phone and NOT COPY

What Nokia should do is trying to come with something unique and not to release a iPhone like tool.
I would rather see a phone with an unique keyboard(like the two sliders keyboards which merge to form a full keyboard with numeric pad) combined with a WVGA screen than this phone.
Anyway,it seems that the second S60 Touch from Nokia should be much more interesting so i will wait for this one.

Apple has changed sell phone industry, now they sit back and enjoy watching all other companies chasing there tails just to catch-up, try to copy an iPhone. I personally think that se and nokia will never out smart the iPhone. You can make it look like but by the end of the day se will just not be able to get a head far enough, and nokias beautiful phones still be at 3 hours and 30 talk time battery life.

So nowdays any touchscreen phone that is rectangular with rounded edges and black is automatically copy of the iPhone? Like HTC Trinity for example (released 2006): http://www.ppcsg.com/uploads/post-1-1170838541.jpg
Nokia made their first touchscreen phone (with handwriting recognition) in 2004 when touchscreen phones wasn't yet in fashion.
Nokia also tried to copy iPhone's design already in 2005 with this phone: http://pcguide.files.wordpress.com/2007/05/nokia.jpg
And who says that you MUST use stylus with the Tube? Will you die if you touch it with your finger?

That turquoise and black interface is ugly as hell, just cos it's skinnable doesn't excuse having a tacky one in the first place.
I'm a Nokia fanboy, only ever had one phone that wasn't from the N and I'm looking forward to getting the N78 soon, but this really isn't going to cut it. The phone looks the inevitable Chinese knock-off, looks all cheap and plastic-ee after the metal bezel and optical glass from the iPhone. And from those videos we saw earlier Nokia really don't seem to understand the idea of using finger based touch-screen and intuitive design to create a more natural approach to the interface.
The iPhone and MS Surface both understand that finger based touch-screen is about interacting with the phone as if the screen is a window through which you reach to touch a physical surface, like dragging and dropping in the same way you'd shuffle pieces of paper around on a table, and little things like the 3D effects and shadows on the buttons compliment this, giving them a better sense of physical presence that invites you to touch it more than those nasty two-tone black rectangles ever could. Do they not have ergonomics in Finland?
