I still like galaxy note better

That's really good to see more foldable smartphones from many companies and see the competition to get the best from them and decrease the prices of foldable smartphones

I don't need a phone that becomes a tablet but I feel that rollables makes foldables a dead technology.
I'm surprised so many companies are still persisting with this flawed design.

i0S.-.Never.-.Again, 24 Feb 2021Samsung is simply the best in display technology. Who else... moreBecause samsung is a veteran, BOE has only started seriously investing in OLED from 2018, according to Ross Young display analyst.

Will take some time for competition.

Though Samsung ,TCL, SONY and BOE are all in front for MicroLED supremacy.

Anonymous, 24 Feb 2021How does sd card slot contribute to thickness. And ports an... morePorts 3.5mm / usb c 2.5 -6. Thats the male side. female side is much thicker, the support components and chips inside is even more thicker.

Now, you can have usb c OR wireless charging.. but you cannot pick both, because thickness again. The magnetic coil will add thickness.. or the usb c will add thickness.

As for Sim card / slots, yes you may have a point that its thin, but i am thinking because its removable part, you have to build thickness to ensure you can insert sim card / slots properly, ie make spring loaded.. or a sim tray etc etc.

One way to look at this, compare the Samsung fold to surface duo.

Duo - No wireless charging, usb c, comes in at around 5mm thickness, fold around 10.
Fold - Wireless charging, usb c, dual display on one side, 7mm thickness, fold even thicker greater than 15mm.. almost 2 flagship phones thick.

So how can fold achieve flat design like duo.. it has to go even thinner, 4mm at least. to account for the folded area in the flexible screen. And a lot of compromise will have to come in.

Samsung is simply the best in display technology.
Who else can produce better displays? Other manufacturers like Sharp, BOE, LG can't even meet their clients requirements properly.

Anonymous, 24 Feb 2021Personally, I felt that the foldable is good if. 1. there ... moreThats why ports got to go. And give a smaller camera module.

Jacks / USB ports / camera / sd slots / sim cards all made the product too thick. Users of this line of products want to work on the screen, not take photos or videos.

Then they can make it 4mm or less thin, so when folded its at most 10mm flat. 2mm reserved for the bezel side thickness, so to hide and protect the folded screen, like laptop clamshell.

Personally, I felt that the foldable is good if.
                              1. there is no crease observed
                              2. it is thin enough
                              3. the folding screen (polymer) have more endurance against scratches.

This trend of releasing foldable, w/o much improvement at this three areas, is pretty annoying.

imagine if oppo puts a 5x periscope in there and it will be a reversible camera, you'll literally see any cell on your face. xd

Samsung needs to worry about it's own user base and products. They are and will be losing a strong base of users by the millions because they keep removing features but adding more money.
