Linux, 16 Sep 2012NNNo, down boy, android is Open Source - at least in part, ... moreAgreed. Hard to believe that people are still so enamored with Micro$oft. They have such a monopoly in the PC OS market....now, they want to restrict the boot sector from loading alternative OS....and mobile users want the same closed source environment???

HP is almost identical with business/office, not toy & multimedia. They should build a business-oriented device instead. Preferably a Windows one.

they should have used only windows RT/phone 8 (and 7 a few years ago)!

not android because android is already flooded with competition, and also because hp is already in the PC+windows business.

they should release a smartphone with a full qwerty that flips form the side - not many options at this genere.

the same applies to dell, who thought of using android but cancelled their plans - remember that there was supposed to be a dell "hancock" device? it was supposed to have android, but dell realised that this is not suitable for them, and I am sure that they would enter the game only with windows varieties.

I am sure this is bull. Could it be a company's leadership be so retarded and in such a tailspin from the imbecilic decisions made that now, it wants back in the cell phone game. Why would you trash an ecosystem (WebOS) that likely would have been number one all over the world after spending literally billions, dismantle the support (staff and budgets) for this ecosystem only to later make your way back in with now ONLY a cell phone (not an ecosystem)? WOW. And these executives make how much a year?

You buy an iconic company with an advanced mobile OS, you screw the company, you screw the os(although you paid big money for them) and now you want to come back in mobile business with another OS. Or this is fake, or it's just about an "what if" phone.

If they built a front-end that WebOSified Android's UI enough I would give it a serious look. Highly doubt that is the case though.
