Weekly poll results: the Redmi K40 series is shaping up to be a hit, Pro+ comes out on top

07 March 2021
The margin to the vanilla K40 is pretty slim - voters see the vanilla model as great value for money.

I imagine Pro+'s HM2 sensor to be much inferior to famous Samsung HMX (Mi10, Mi11, Mi Note 10, Mi 10T Pro) so what's the point of getting Pro+? Difference in photo quality between K40 Pro and K40 Pro+ will be minimal to nonexistent. IMX686 is slightly better than IMX582 in K40 though.

Another question is necessity of Snapdragon 888 with it's unfamous overheating and battery consumption like we're back in Snapdragon 810 days.

I'd pick K40 SoC with K40 Pro's camera sensor.

K40 pro+ is pointless the camera isn't really improved compared to k40 pro. The phone camera just has more megapixels and still no ois.

You guys should accept the fact that popup camera is dead. Maybe flip might be around for a while. Underscreen is the next thing now.
And I think I might skip this year flagships apart from been super broke I think it's too early to buy a device I plan on using in a long term now. Im sure oems will release better devices later this year or next year.

Mi 11 screen looks weird to me, I mean the corners and k40 is FHD+ I'm fed up with that resolution. Redmi note 10 pro is good but not flagship, only nice feature is the high refresh rate and xiaomi has taught me a lesson to never buy a mid range phone that's uses their skin made with tortois-snail framework (aka miui 12)

I've taken maybe 2 selfies in 3 years. I will never buy a phone with lost screen estate to the camera. Secondary screen for the win, or no selfie camera, for me.

I like the thinner body of this one though.

Im sick of this companies holding back their budget midrange in the West, so they can sell the overpriced crap first
like i did with PC graphics cards in the past i will buy only used or use whatever gets passed down from friends & family

LFayez, 07 Mar 2021dude, the k40pro+ price is 3700yuan,while the mi11 costs 40... moreHonestly I would skip this year's flagship phones because if that overheating mess of chipset called SD888 and it's only a mild improvement in gaming and sometimes worse than SD865 as it throttles heavily and gets worse performance than SD865

Wait for next year's TSMC made Snapdragon chip.

If you upgrade pretty frequently then the vanilla K40 I guess should be fine.

Personally - even though I admittedly voted for the K40 - I would consider the Pro+ as well as more of a longer term investment.

Gaming aside, even regular apps are getting more and more demanding over time. For me personally, Android Auto was very heavy on my old Redmi Note 3 Pro, so I upgraded to a Pocophone F1, which still cuts it just fine and I'm happy with it - for now.

When the lag gods become unhappy with it, I'll probably hunt for another value flagship like the K40 Pro+ or whatever follows it at that time.

But if I was the type to upgrade every year or two, I'd go for the regular K40 most likely - or the corresponding Redmi Note 10 of course.

Anonymous, 07 Mar 2021you have to be joking K40 pro plus is $600 and Mi11 is $900... moredude, the k40pro+ price is 3700yuan,while the mi11 costs 4000yuan ; so just for extra 300yuan(46usd) you will get :

                              1. Better display
                              2. Better main camera with OIS
                              3. Better Ultrawide camera
                              4. Better speakers
                              5. Faster charging
                              6. Wireless charging at 50W
                              7. Better in hand feel thanks to curve
                              8. Better gesture feel thanks to curve on bottom display

so no doubt the k40pro+ is a big loss deal.

The K40 series lost some of the appeal of Redmi K series that is clean screen/display without notches, holes, ... & the presence of headphone jack !
