Hmmmm how come iPhone 5 benchmark is better than gs3 I did a test with my sgs3 us version and I got a benchmark of 1664 so how come the iPhone beat the sgs3 this is weird

Lack of true file system. Stuck with certain formats and has to use itunes. Limited actions on what you can do with audio files, email attachments, and such things. Releases age old things as updates. Has even gone as far as changing no more than a few lines of coding to disable a hack and call it an entire OS update.....All this and it still lags, freezes, crashes, and reboots at times.....Let me tell you just how much more advanced IOS is

just to keep in mind ... apple has the world's best OS which is so neatly built and so even if its a dual core processor .. just wait and see the real benchmark results .. it is going to beat all the quad cores which are out in market ...

But you forgot to menti... moreSo... in order to use the phone like a computer, you need to plug it into a special dock and attach a USB keyboard and mouse... why would anyone do this when they can just use a laptop which would have a vastly bigger screen and better all-round performance, or a proper computer? I highly doubt this will be the future of mobile phones, to be honest!

But you forgot to mention games.
There are some good games on every mobile OS out there and some of those games need CPU/GPU/RAM power (you know, let's think about the children thing :P).
But I'm only staying in this generation, let's move forward and think different.
Have you heard of Motorola's Webtop app?
It can transform your phone into a real working desktop (only in Linux flavour, because Linux rox).
All you have to do is put your phone into a special cradle with HDMI and USB ports, connect your keyboard, mouse and monitor or TV and the fun starts.
I think these smartphones go in this direction and that's why they stuff in more and more cores, else I don't see the point of this except generic benchmarks.

Why did they downclock a laptop to compare it to the iPhone? If you de-tune a Lamborghini I'm sure you can make a Vauxhall Astra 1.6 outrun it. More kissing of Apple's bloated backside I think.

anyone driving a car keep their average speed above 100mph then we can continue talking, else, speed just rubbish for average user

what is the meaning of phone ?
communication device,
1.talk
2.chat/texting
3.checking email on the go
4.check some info on the go
when u on the phone talking for hour, how comfort that phone on your hand is most important
faster CPU dont made you finish the conversation 10 times faster

I fail to understand the preoccupation with the benchmark junkies. So what. How about the experience and functionality. What are we comparing next - a benchmark for farts. Where is the real software kick. It is not Android, or from Apple just yet, but maybe from WP8 will be the game changer.

respect to apple for getting the most optimized chip but it doesn't mean a thing if you cant put a big enough chip in the phone to beat the competition. seeing as it loses to the quads and is only on par with the one s all running ICS.

Android Man, 17 Sep 2012well no doubt a heavily biased apple website. probably not ... moreyou do realize that in 2014 formula one cars will only have a 1.6 litre engine, and no doubt they will be amongst some of the fastest perfoming cars ever made.
the point is everything on an F1 car is sooo finely tuned that every scrap of performance is squeezed out.
im no apple fanboy by the way. i have a htc one x and i think its the best phone ive ever owned after 6 years of iphone apple fail.
but if anyone could squeeze this kind of performance out of this kind of processor you can bet your bottom dollar it would be apple and kudos to them if they did.
