10 March 2021
This is not the first time Cupertino has slashed iPhone 12 mini orders in favor of the larger models.

Well, because of the SE 2020 price, it´s still the better choice between these two phones; if they somehow reduce its pricing for a future "Mini" Iphone, then more people will buy it.

Even I am surprised that there is no market for compact size phone.. but I always want small and compact. I hate 6.5 inch phones....a 5.5 ot max 6.0 inches is more than enough unless you want to use your mobile phone as a mini PC.

In fact the 12 Mini is great. If it has a dedicated telephoto camera also, I'll definitely buy one.

I love my phone 12 mini. Since iPhone 7 I could not accept to buy any bigger and waiting....waiting for the mini. I hang it with a strap in my neck and if is any bigger it will be too heavy,
Please don’t stop production of the minis

I mean, is not like Samsung or Xiaomi sell 50 million units from the same model. Lol.
But anyway, for Apple standards is not a good sign, probably that's why they are thinking not to capitalize on this small form factor further. At least not at this price.

I think the biggest problem is pricing, this mini would be great phone for younger audience, but the price is way too high for them. That’s why SE 2020 is selling well.

Essen, 11 Mar 2021I would still not call the small phone dead. This is just A... moreBecause there were different expectation and different view between people in the east and west.

In majority of english speaking country, apple sell well, above 15% market share.
That's in USA, Canada, OZ, UK.
People in this country think small phone is better, and want to buy small phone.
Because they might have other big screen device, and phone is just one of several things to access internet, or some of the entertainment device they have.

In most of Android user country...
Such as China, India, Indonesia, Brazil... Where's iphone have bellow 3% of market share.
The low end user (The user that have less income)
Want as big screen as possible.
Because the phone is their only entertainment device.
And also.... Small screen reduce productivity (make them slower doing things).

                            So,
for most android phone, small doesn't sell
And doesn't worthed to be try to make.
                            wasting R&D money.

And apparently, we do vote with our money.
if no one want to buy, manufacture won't produce it.
the western just have to accept that they can't persuade other to follow their lifestyle.
Because even in western country, small phone is also not majority anymore.

I would still not call the small phone dead. This is just Apple re-organising their production numbers. Car manufacturers do that often. For instance if a variant without a sun-roof sells fewer numbers, then the company will increase production of the variants with sun-roof and fewer for the ones without. What I don't like with phone makers is if the one without sun-roof is selling in fewer numbers, they just stop producing non-sunroof models and everybody and their uncle makes only ones with sunroof.

The Chinese and Samsung still come out with insane number of phones and variants all eating into each other. I think all Android OEMs have room for at least two mini phones. One mid-range (SD4xx/6xx with all other features) and one upper mid-range (SD7XX).

The problem now is small phones are either basic without even a fingerprint scanner. Or they are close to a $1000 (Sonys, Samsung S10E, 12 Mini). And in case of the 12 Mini, the 2020 SE makes better sense for people. Compact phones cannot come once in three four generations. They need to be available every generational upgrade. So people looking to upgrade always have the latest compact phone available. Not a phone that's already two years old, where a new one may or may not come two years later.
