did you ever notice how other large companies that are not US based do not seek outside their own country as first choice. I wonder why apple does that. Why doesn't apple set up a chip design plant in the US?

The A14 is actually currently the best 5nm chip in the market, it has the lowest peak TDP yet delivering the highest perf/W. Kirin 9000 is just slightly worse but overall still an excellent chip.
The A13 was not superior to the SD865, whatever reason there is some throttling (15-25% performance loss due to throttling depending on the model) but the A14 barely throttles (5% or less), if anything. Try to refer to Gary Explains Speed Test G video. The iPhone 11 Pro Max was the fastest but throttled too much, but the iPhone 12 only got hot but throttled little.

It ... moreI uses p40 Pro, it performs like my old galaxy s7, I can't have an app and my edge browser open at the same time. Once you navigate from your browser to another app the browser get kill and when you go back to the browser everything reload again It's crazy. I tried changing it battery settings to performance mode then the phone becomes too hot to hold. In general the phone seems to me like a massive degrade coming from s8 but the phone camera is the best I have ever seen on phone. Some of my pictures and videos looks like they were taken with professional camera. Another issue I have with the phone is app. Virtually there is no or few reasonable app unless you download from apkpure and many of app downloaded their ends up not working well with the phone. 90% of apps I downloaded from their app Gallery are cloned, malware or data harvester. Take for example you download a game, the game will need access to make calls, galleries, access to other apps in your phone, location, read sms, access to your contact etc and if you don't give any of those access, they will not work meanwhile the same app in my s8 will only ask permission for access to one or two which or necessary for the app. Even if I decide to give access to all the permissions requested by the app in my p40 Pro. The app will keep bombarding me with ads.
However, I bought this phone having read several over hype comment here about the phone and its AppGallery I fell for the trap. I have put the phone up for sell for less then half price. I bought it £950 and only use it for 3 months I put it up for sell for £400 yet no buyer. Now am using it as my portable camera.

It's taking them a very long time to build that 5G modem. That patent minefield must be a nightmare.

My past iphone Xs was getting really hot when using Telegram/Signal/WhatsApp or Face Time apps. And when I say hot, I say very hot. And I searched online, there was a similar problem with multiple iphone Xs or X or 8.
This problem had disappeared when I switched to the iphone 11 (bigger phone, probably with better internal design).
The same goes for Android too. I didn't face any heating issues with my big Android phones in the past (no matter the company, Xiaomi, Realme, Samsung).
Immediately when I switched to compact phones (the Samsung A41 and now the Pixel 4a), I have again heating issues when using video calling apps. Not as big as on iphones, but still.
PS: I never game on my phones. Just to be clear.

it's slightly mediocre at performance but really bgreat at thermals.
go to anandtech, at any point KIRIN 9000 doesn't sip more than 4W at maximum load
with SD888 it's all hell break loose with 8.1W at max , and it's a proper terrible mostly fault of SAMSUNG foundry
Kirin was produced at TSMC thus the praise.

Now, if you put the same chip and upscale it in a bigger chassis like iPad size.. laptop size.. then it can go wild without issues.
SD888 have the benefit of a bigger size battery and overall thickness of android phones.. and yet have trouble keeping up to a throttled A14 b...

I will admit it. Apple's chip is always a generation ahead when it comes to power, performance, speed, and efficiency. But, it throttles easily, but still better than the oven SD 888. What's the point of super high power if it throttles easily? Best 5nm chip currently is Kirin 9000.
