SA Woodlawn, 12 Mar 2021The main concern with the majority of the people of subcont... moreI don't believe so.

The point is Indians are much more careful while choosing smartphones.
Most of Indians use their phones for more than couple of years.

Even though I particularly don't like Chinese phones especially because of their UIs & Privacy concerns but Anyone would admit that Chinese phones offers better Hardware for similar/lower price.
Even Samsung can't compete with the likes of Xiaomi or Realme in Hardware offering for similar price. But sSamsung phones still sell good because of their Brand Image & Trust in Brand.

Brand Image & Trust these are the major factors that determine competetiveness of Premium brands in India.

SA Woodlawn, 12 Mar 2021The main concern with the majority of the people of subcont... moreIs the little things that matter (no pun intended). My Pixel 4a feels snappier than my Poco X3 NFC in day to day usage, even though is an inferior phone on paper. Not to mention the camera and the stereo speakers are better on the Pixel 4a (the display too). Even listening to music on the headphone jack is better quality on the Pixel 4a. I have them both side by side and try them both with the same headphones.
But then again the Poco X3 NFC cost me 200EUR, the Pixel 4a cost me 450EUR. In the end the Pixel 4a is not twice better than the Poco X3 NFC. So, it is a bit overprice if you ask me.

Also, with 450EUR I could have bought the Mi10T (8gb variant), which is a better phone (is practically a Mi10T Pro without the 108Mp camera). But I just wanted something different than Xiaomi, Samsung, Realme, One Plus or iphone (practically my latest phones).

In 1 month since I bought it, I already received 2 small software updates. In about 3 months time I will probably receive Android 12, when majority of other Android phones will receive Android 11 still. I just hope I will not have hardware problems with it.

SA Woodlawn, 12 Mar 2021The main concern with the majority of the people of subcont... morenumbers mean something. A mediocre chipset will not be fast if you slap a brand name on it.

The main concern with the majority of the people of subcontinent is that they blindly believe that numbers mean everything, so they'll take anything with high numbers (of RAM, Megapixels etc.) which makes the Chinese brands a leader as Apple, Samsung or Google are basically mediocre on paper, despite actually being better in practical usage.

TheLastOracle, 12 Mar 2021A pixel phones havent done anything worthwhile on hardware ... moreAnd offer a 256gb and 512gb version for those that want it - 128gb is just too small these days.

Pixel devices can only work in USA, Canada and other North American countrues where they don't have much choice.

In India, the Chinese manufacturers offer a lot more at 20k than what pixel offers at 35k.

If they don't offer good specs people will not buy it their main selling point software support is beaten by samsung in India brand name isn't enough even Samsung, Apple faces this challenge so Google need to understand that

Pixels need to become Samsung M series like phones, but with the additional pros of clean android. They need to advertise about the security and after sales support and security updates and what not. People will only buy if they know that the reason pixels are more expensive because pixels are safer to use than chinese shit. On top of that if pricing becomes comparable to the mid range m and A series phones of samsung then they will have a win on their hands

The pixel naming scheme is an utter mess

C'mon google, there certainly are people waiting to buy pixels. I was even considering 4a for my mother but ended up with Realme 7 Pro since the almost 50% price premium for the pixel wasn't worth it imo.
They should've priced the 4a @28k, then it'd have sold much better, even my mother would've bought one then.
Really hope they bring the 5a in time & price it right, since they have already stated their plans on producing some locally

A pixel phones havent done anything worthwhile on hardware for the longest. The next Pixel phones need atleast 3 camera modules, at the back. Also, they should stop using the same 12MP sensor for the millionth time.

potato4k, 12 Mar 2021I can understand Pixels doing well in countries like the US... moreDepends. If you are looking for the best features at best prices, probably no, not too many buyers. But, there are still people looking for something different.
For me, I always liked big nice phones with good display. But I just become bored with them. They all look the same nowadays, just small differences each and there. So, I wanted something different from my usual Xiaomi/Samsung/Realme phones.
Chinese companies seem stuck at 6.53"-6.67" dimensions for quite some time already. Yeah, the features are great, but they should give multiple choices too (dimension wise), at least for the fun of it.
If Xiaomi or Realme will make a nice compact phone, with good features and decent price, I will probably try one.

I can understand Pixels doing well in countries like the US where there's not much Chinese phones. But will people be attracted to Pixel in a market where heavy hitters like Xiaomi, BBK group, and even Samsung are duking it out and flooding the market with cheap phones?

AnonD-989007, 12 Mar 2021Pixel phones are a little overpriced for what they offer on... moreThe 2020 Pixel lineup was good even though slightly overpriced.
Unfortunately in India the availability has been scarce for Pixel Phones since Pixel 3. Even now the Pixel 4a has been out of stock for some time.
Google should also launch higher end Pixels in India, there is definitely a Market for them since people are even willing to buy iPhone 12 pro which is almost twice the price of all other flagships devices except Samsung ultras.
