Used the Nokia 6.1. Sturdy phone and no usb port issues. Android One is not a good experience. It is is stripped from many usefull things and Google is deep into it. Android One is a cheap joke.

Nokia phones have port issues , camera and speakers output is disappointing never buy hmd global phones

Potemkin, 17 Mar 2021Nokia never died, only their phones subdivision which was b... moreHardware design failure? You do realise that all you have now on your device was a long time ago on Lumia devices, right? Lumia devices were innovative and crazy good. So good that all others pay for patents to NOKIA. The only problem there was the store that lacked support and microsoft that did anything to bring NOKIA down, and they managed by depriving NOKIA from support in every aspect. In the meantime the NOKIA as a company hold 10% of hmd stocks, this was revealed recently. So, nope, just because NOKIA as a company did a huge mistake by taking the mole-flop in, it does not mean they made bad decisions when it comes to hardware. As for hmd, well they did not innovate a lot, but they for sure try to, and that is enough for me as an european citizen to show them some support.

Kingslayer, 16 Mar 2021They're only called Nokia phones by name. The real Nok... moreNokia never died, only their phones subdivision which was bought by Microsoft and later sold to HMD Global which was founded by few former Nokia executives. They licensed Nokia brand from Nokia company to use for their new HMD phones. They also partnered with Chinese firm FIH Mobile. In the beginning there was significant number of former Nokia engineers working for HMD, but soon they realized their management was incompetent and left for other firms, like Huawei.
You have to know that a lot of these C-level managers rotating in HMD were partly responsible for Nokia losing smartphone race 10 years ago and later for failure of Lumia phones. Microsoft was responsible for OS failure but some of these former Nokians were responsible for hardware design failures. Their incompetence was proven later in HMD. All of their flagships were complete failures and sold very poorly.

What??? What about 9 pureview successor????

I mean, I never heard or read anywhere about people (with Chinese phones) who got their data "stolen" in such a way their personal lives or privacy were compromised. Is not like they steal your bank account, name, social security number, etc. Plus, if we are talking about data on internet, those are not only Chinese phones related, but also Google, Apple, etc. related. So, the minute you have an account online (be it Microsoft, Google or Apple) your data can already be shared to governments, institutions, law enforcements, online shops, etc.
As for the ads, yeah you have them, but even those are not on all phones (global versions of Realme or OnePlus don't have any built in ads). And even some Xiaomi global models do not have them. For the others that have ads, you can easily disable them (either by entering in that specific app settings or by disabling the app altogether and use a third party app instead).
In the end the differences have become so great (between phones from Sony, LG, Nokia, HTC and Chinese phones), that for me is not worth it. I mean, Chinese phones are even 3-4 times better (in all departments) than the phones I mentioned earlier, in the same price.

There is a global chip shortage for 2021.

Anonymous, 16 Mar 2021While I am not buying a Nokia, those chinese companies coul... moreI don't work for Samsung so I don't particularly care. And if you want to know the real answer, it's volume and business model. HMD is a small company that is trying to sell their phones to enterprise clients, and has a focus on reliability - but they also tap a lot into the cheap featurephone market to increase their sales volume. Xiaomi is like Apple in that they don't really try that hard to make money selling their hardware, they make money through their ecossystem - they differ from Apple in that they don't stick to a "premium price" regardless of their product, Xiaomi usually tries to stick to cost. Brands like Samsung try to do both and that's why they offer terrible value - but they have Korea locked down, and have a good brand name in the west, so they don't really care, they make their money anyway. You can see an example of this business model failing if you look at LG. Expensive and couldn't do marketing right like the others (Who sold iOS and curved edge screens as desirable features)

Remember how Samsung fold tech was stolen away by a corporate spy.
